Is he just teasing us the way Julius Jones did or is he for real?

Honest question.

Bob Cosell's analysis from the other day got me to thinking since he didn't see much of a NFL future for him from his college tape, but now that he looked great as a rookie, it has me wondering if it's for real. Is he?

One of the big questions for the year. Along with "Can he stay healthy?"

From an Xs and Os standpoint, I think our ground game is going to be the xfactor to our season. If our ground game can improve significantly then I think our team has a chance. If not then not much will change.

I think Murray has everything you want in a running back. He can catch. He can break tackles. He has speed. He can block. Has intelligence and mental toughness. I don’t think Julius Jones had some of those qualities, especially breaking tackles. The last question i guess is can he stay healthy the entire season? I do think he proved he can take the weekly pounding and still be very effective.

Will he repeatedly run into the backs of his offensive lineman like a blind man as Jones did? Time will tell.

I think Jones problem was that after his rookie year, he seemed to get much bigger in his upper half.

Not sure if he worked on his legs as much.

Also, there was the whole Parcells not letting him follow his instincts line.

Julius Jones actually broke quite a few tackles during that hot stretch in his rookie year, so let's not pretend that what Murray did last year was way different.

I like Murray and I do think his skill set is better than Jones', but I won't be sold on the guy until he proves he can do it over a whole season.

In the right situation, I think Murray could be very effective.

Besides his own ability, Murray has got a couple of things going for him.

1) The Cowboys' passing attack demands the respect of defenses.
2) Murray will be playing behind an outstanding FB in Vickers.

On the downside:

1) Murray is playing behind a questionable OL.
2) Felix's skills aren't especially complimentary to Murray's. It would be more desirable to have a more physical power back sharing snaps with Murray. Because Felix Jones isn't a short-yardage type of back; Murray likely will be responsible for picking up the tough yards (in addition to his general duties). This will increase the wear, tear, tired legs factor for Murray.

We've had one of the worst run blocking lines, especially along the interior, over the last 3 years. And I'm not so sure the 2 nobodies we signed are going to be that much better.

With that said, Murray does have the size to be physical and actually showed an ability to gain tough yards last year. I think he and Felix do compliment each other well. My main concern is the line providing holes to run through.
