OK, it's pretty damn good that we beat last year's Super Bowl teams in back to back games. It's not the FIRST time it's ever happened (Atlanta did it in 2016, beating Denver and Carolina in back to back games, and they went on to the Super Bowl themselves). It IS the first time any team has ever done it on a short week. Now that said, neither Philly nor KC is quite as good as last year's versions. Still, both had winning records when we beat them and both were still considered potential Super Bowl threats (KC may have seen the ship sail on this now)

1) Back to back games the Cowboys have started out about horribly as a team can do. They gave up 3 straight TDs to Philthy to start and two straight TDs to open v KC after throwing an awful pick to start the game and allowing an almost uncontested TD two plays later. They need to figure out the bad starts (also started terrible in numerous other games this year)

2) How good was Dallas' offense v KC? The 31 pts tied the season high (Jacksonville also scored 31 but 7 pts was a length of the field int return) and the 457 yards was also by far the most any team had gotten v them, 404 was the previous high). KC has only given up 400 yds twice (us and Buffalo) and the 320 passing yards was also the most (first time since week one vs LAC ad Herbert that they have given up 300+). KC's defense was good, and we made them look pretty pedestrian. Also notable, we had the interception to start the game and from there punted only once. The only other times they didnt score was the 1 play to end the 1st half and then running out the clock on teh games final drive. Otherwise it was TD, FG, TD, FG, TD, FG

3) Great bounce back game by Lamb and he did it against one of the best CB's in the league. Torched McDuffie and the Chiefs secondary. Not only did he have all the catches and drew 3 PI calls, but Lamb had one of the biggest plays of the game on the second drive, taking away a near 2nd interception by Dak with a sensational effort (and apparent martial arts type move lol). Him and Pickens were both awesome although we avoided disaster with Pickens on the amazing effort by Turpin to recover his fumble (and save the FG attempt)

4) After two bad throws to start the game, Prescott settled down and had himself a monster day (as noted above, the most yards by any QB this yr against them). I said it last week I believe, I don't think Prescott is the MVP or will ultimately win it, but he will certainly be in the discussion if he continues to have these types of games. He's seeing the field better than he ever has and is no longer the master of "dink and Dak" throwing, he takes plenty of shots downfield and into the intermediate areas. He's also turned into a slant master and completes these throws almost at will to Pickens and Lamb.

5) Kolston Adams and Conor Riley have obviously been the headliner hires for what they've done to help Schottenheimer create a great scheme. But I do think the Ken Dorsey hiring was sneaky good and you can definitely see his impact on Prescott with his mechanics and footwork. He also gets through progressions better IMO. He is a different QB now and I think Dorsey is a big part of it.

6) The defense had a so-so day, we did give up 4 TD passes and just couldn't seem to make a "stop" play in the redzone or on 4th down when they needed it. The pass rush gets movement but doesn't quite "finish" enough. I know Mahomes is crazy good at this, but it seemed like we missed 5 or 6 sacks when we had him cold. What's also concerning is by the middle of the 4th quarter the Chiefs were playing with 3 backup OL and we still couldnt get them off the field. They have some pieces but it's clear they need to dedicate a lot of resources to the D in the offseason. I'd start by getting two new starters at safety as well as ensuring they get another pass rushing DE. Ex 41 is going to be good, but we need more. The interior DL is pretty set, especially if they restructure/extend Clark.

7) Scary scene early with Shavon Revel down and them appearing to be looking at his knee, but he came back in. He showed some high end cover skills and also finished with 6 tackles. You can tell he isn't quite 100% speed/quickness wise but every game he seems to get more comfortable. He's definitely a building block player for the future. I think Overshown is in a similar boat, he isnt quite as lightning fast as he was yet but you are seeing him get more comfortable. If he can continue to heal and stay healthy, he's another building block player for the future. Reddy Stewart also has something to his game. May never be a front line "starter" but he certainly has a role in nickel/dime defense and ST.

8) Still pulling for Schotty, he's extremely likable and seems to know football. He doesn't make dumb coaching gaffes and is turning out to be quite the play caller 90% of the time. My only real complaint is his playcalling in the redzone and especially inside the 10 yard-line. It stinks. He is far too pass happy down there and it isn't leading to "easy" scores, instead we seem to have many missed opportunities and have had quite a few turnovers down there. Just run the fucking ball. It's be one thing if we DIDNT have a legit run game, but we do. We nearly had two or three more redzone turnovers yesterday and it also cost us by not using more clock than we could have late.

9) Mentioned it last night, I had very low expectations when they signed Jadeveon Clowney. But he's ended up being a solid player for us and had two more sacks yesterday (nearly had a couple others). Also gives max effort every play and chases stuff from behind every time he is out there. Has a great attitude on the field and fits in well with all the young guys. Def leads by example out there.

10) Not sure why they play Kenneth Murray ahead of Logan Wilson any longer. Wilson is not the pure athlete Murray is but he is a better football player. Murray is out of position far too often and it leads to too many chunk runs. Wilson seemed like he played more of his snaps in the 2nd half and it's probably not a coincidence that the Chiefs run game was nowhere near as good as it was in the 1st half.

Good win, still a major uphill climb to get into the playoffs and they probably have to win out. But Romo was probably right, if they win next week in Detroit there's a very reasonable chance they'll run the table.

Well done dbair. I will disagree with one point you made....I think Philly is more talented than last year. But there's something between the AJ Brown / Hurts dynamic this year and I hope that conflict continues. Having said that, do we root for Philly or Chicago today? I hate rooting for Philly but I don't see us catching them for the Division.

In any event, great game but the D still has me spooked. Mahomes was sacked more so because he held the ball too long....we need to pick up a pass rusher int he next draft and we also need to sign Pickens. He's this team's #1 receiver.

Philly' been so lucky w/wins. Unlike the Chiefs, they have a way of hiding their struggles w/their offensive/defensive lines. A less effective run game etc... Chiefs so-called dynasty, ended in 2023. They're a mess in all aspects.

There's going to be surprise teams in this years
Superbowl. Out w/the old, in w/the new.

Glad I'm not the only voice in the wilderness still unimpressed overall with this defense. 7x7=49 points we gave up in four days. One or two plays go their way instead of ours and we're not a two game winner. It's better but still THE major worry going forward.
