Like with Claiborne and Jenkins, I hope drafting Crawford means we are trading Marcus Spears. Otherwise, we are getting zero in return for another former first round pick.
I would trade Spears for almost anything.
But we get smaller on DLine!!

Crawford is already drafted so nothing we can do about that. I've yet to see anyone explain or defend why we can't make short-yardage stops.
Who gets the boot on the defensive line? Coleman maybe? Frees up cap room for the rumored Shiancoe signing.

cant make short yardage stops? what!? our short yardage defense was not bad at all last year
yeah I guess I'd need to go pull it up, but run defense didnt seem like a huge issue last yr other than a couple of games
the problem was pass defense
Pass defense was awful because teams marched right down the field whenever they wanted, especially in clutch situations.
We also struggled on goal line defenses and short-yardage plays, again especially in crucial situations. Teams converted on us at will.
Really?
Don't agree at all.

we ranked 5th in the league in fewest first downs rushing allowed, 7th in rush yds allowed and near the top in fewest runs over 20 yds allowed
because teams could pass to get 1st downs whenever they wanted. Show me goal line stats and short-yardage conversion stats... or just tell me some plays where the goal line d made crucial stops.
