The Cowboys have had both their centers injured this season, but neither at the same time. Phil Costa is injured for the second time this season and will miss Sunday's game against the Giants with a right ankle injury. He still is in a boot and on crutches.
Ryan Cook, who was inactive for the Baltimore game with a hamstring injury, will start his fourth game.
David Arkin will serve as the backup center. Arkin, a fourth-round pick in 2011, was inactive for all 16 games as a rookie. He has been active for four games this season, but he has never played a snap.
Rigth guard Mackenzy Bernadeau has some experience at center and has practiced at the position since joining the Cowboys in the off-season. But Arkin will go into the game as the backup center, Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said.
"We anticipate it being Arkin," Garrett said Friday. "He has the most [preseason] game experience for us doing that. Mackenzy has taken some snaps there. We anticipate keeping him at guard, though."
