Saw one of your colleagues surprised Tony Romo wasn't among the top 100 athletes in the NFL. Did that surprise you?
Can't think of anything less significant than a player's poll of top 100 players. Who knows how much time they put into voting? What do you think the odds are than they sat down at their computer and studied all the numbers? Don't you think on their way out the door to the club, to the golf course, whatever, they said, "Uhh, Kaepernick's hot, I'll put him in there." On the other hand, I don't think it's necessarily wrong by any means. Based on last season, Romo's not in the top 100. You have to assume at age 33 he's going to progress, cut down significantly on turnovers, to put him back in there. And he can do that, for sure, but it's just a guess right now.
Besides Ware, Dez, and Witten, are there any other Cowboys players you would have in your Top 100?
Probably not but after this season Morris Claiborne makes the list.
Too much attention to the play calling and we don't even know how this will play out. Callahan is competent Offensive Coordinator. He should do well. I want to know about the status on the defense side. How are the players reacting to the new coordinator?
All they can do at this point is talk about Kiffin and say the right things. They do that. How does this team perform in the 4-3? We won't know until the season and it's not a huge change for some but it's different for the tackles and for Spencer and for Lee in particular. A few drills in mini-camp don't mean anything.
Hi Tim! How frustrating is it for a team to invest in a rookie, especially one that is injured, grow and mature into an elite player, only to see him hook a huge contract for another team at the end of his contract year. I am thinking Lee, Carter, Bryant...
Tim Cowlishaw: I think that's just the nature of the game today. The Cowboys can lose players like those you mention but at the same time you can go out and scoop up those same situation players from 31 other teams. I will say one thing the Cowboys are good at is keeping their own players. They are too good at it as I have discussed many times. Tend to fall in love with players, sign them to bigger, longer contracts than they should.
What's your best guess for the starting OL? IMO, If we don't make changes we won't get better, but changing just for change sake doesn't necessarily help either. I'll guess Smith, Livings, Frederick, Leary and Parnell. The last two are more a vote against their competition and for hope that we have something better.
Tim Cowlishaw: I suspect Free will start if he is healthy. We will see.
We've had 16 years of mediocrity. The cowboys were a team of winners and did so consistently. So, why does anybody care anymore about the Cowboys? I grew up with them, and I don't care anymore. Why should anybody else?
Tim Cowlishaw: Why doesn't anyone care? It's June and all the questions I get here (well, 90 percent of them) are about a team that doesn't play for 3 months. And it's that way every week. And in December when they are 6-7, they will draw 85 to 90,000 in Cowboys Stadium. I would say the opposite. I would say people care TOO much and willingly accept mediocrity. It's not that way with the other teams here. If they aren't competitive, fans don't show up. But they pass through Jerry's turnstiles like sheep.
