OXNARD, Calif. – The Cowboys made a quick roster move before boarding a train for San Diego by waiving running back Ed Wesley.
Wesley, a TCU-ex, was late to Friday’s walkthrough, which likely sealed his fate. He had been supplanted in the backup tailback roles by Jamize Olawale, a fullback, and Javarris Williams. Wesley joined the Cowboys a few days before flying to California after he was not selected in the supplemental draft.
With the return of Lance Dunbar from a hamstring injury, the Cowboys did not need an extra tailback.
The Cowboys have 89 players on the roster and will keep the spot open for now.
