IRVING, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys will sign defensive tackle Jeris Pendleton and have him available for this week's minicamp.

Pendleton (6-foot-3, 328 pounds) played in four games last year for Jacksonville and had four tackles. He was a seventh-round pick by the Jaguars in 2012 after a two-year career at Ashland University. A Chicago native, Pendleton was set to go to Michigan State before family obligations led to a six-year hiatus from football. He played two years at Joliet Junior College before transferring to Ashland.

Pendleton will turn 30 on Nov. 7. He was cut by the Jaguars last month.

The Cowboys will have to make a roster move to meet the 90-man limit before they sign Pendleton.

A 30-year old second year player? Personnel Department nails it again. We are going to run out of fingers for Super Bowl rings.

That's 1 tackle per game. I guess they're looking to fill the void left by Marcus Spears.

Can't draft Floyd but we can sign thirty year old schlubs who were not even good enough to be a camp body with the Jags.

Gotta be honest, I'm glad we didn't draft Floyd. Of all the 1st round Dts, he was pretty much the only one I didn't like.

That said, I don't understand this signing. No resume, no upside due to age.

He could turn into a good player, but the odds are against him if the Jaguars cut him. Then again, it's not like they know what they're doing. That's pretty obvious.

Do other teams do shit like this?

I don't know, I'd think I'd rather just not sign this guy if I was in charge.

Seems like a waste of a lot of paper work.

Other guy in organization: "Lets sign this guy. 30 yo, 4 tackles.

Me: "why? He's shitty."
