Well... we didn't win the East when the East was terrible... so yeah, a little jelly.

Washington was the healthiest team in the division. That's about what it boils down to.

Snyder said, "Hey, Jim Zorn, you're outta here" after 2 years and hired a proven coach.

Jerry said, "Hey, Jim Zorngarrett, youre cool. But I might hire someone to help you k?"

Snyder did that for years though. Cerrato was a bad GM but he had come up through the ranks with SF. He hired real head coaches like Schottenheimer and Gibbs and it consistently failed. I don't think he's changed at all he just finally made a few right moves.

They win the east one year when the east is TERRIBLE and suddenly we're all very impressed and jealous?

They have real coaching in place and a bright, young, and talented quarterback. They still have a lot of weaknesses and roster issues (especially on defense) but I could see why Cowboy fans would be semi-jealous.

They will get worked this weekend by the Seahawks and some of that talk will die down. I think the main issue for Cowboy fans is that egomaniac Snyder was able to step away/back down in less time than egomaniac Jones has.

Eh? Cerrato was a known Snyder lackey. Schottenheimer was a good hire, but Snyder quickly canned him for whatever reason. Gibbs actually did a good job, but he was so old he naturally retired. Can't blame Snyder for that.

Speaking for myself, but I'm not impressed with hiring a real GM and head coach... That's what an owner is supposed to do.

Allen isn't anything special, but I do think Shanahan is a very good coach. And Griffin, hate him or not, is at least a real QB, something that franchise hasn't had in decades.

Snyder fired Schotty because Schotty had too much control of player personnel in his contract. Snyder wanted to play with his toys some more.

They're a lot more of a model than we are, though. Snyder at least made the good faith effort of hiring a real GM and HC.

Come on Jerry. It's just sad when Snyder shows less ego than you do.:paper

Exactly. No one on Earth can predict if the skins will sustain success or implode but at least they took real steps to get better. That's really all any fan base wants. Shanny is a top coach and their stud QB is about to be ROY. They traded what will amount to be draft picks in the 20s to get him and they installed a system that capitalizes upon his strengths.

That seems like a franchise that wants to win football games. We're not one.

I'm jealous that they were healthy enough to make the playoffs, but that's about it. I don't believe this offense will be any more long-term successful than the shit Atlanta was running back when they lead the league in rushing every season. I doubt Griffin will be any more durable than Vick was either. I don't believe this spread option crap will last.

Maybe it will. But I'm sure not going to pine for us to do it the way one of the most futile franchises of the past 20 years has done it after one year of mediocre success in which they won the division by having the least injuries.

So they didn't change things? They did things the exact same way they have all the other Snyder years, they just got lucky to be healthy this year? lol

Come on, SP.

That's def not the case anymore. He's stayed largely out of the spotlight now, mostly bc he's actually keen enough to understand that everyone hates him.

Either way, I'm not really jealous of the Skins. They're just a good example of an organization that was in a similar state as ours but decided that enough was enough.

Rather than prepping for another shitty offseason and another year of Jim Zorn (which is what we're doing), Snyder's fan base actually has reason celebrate and hope. I miss that feeling.

I didn't say any of that shit. Teams change shit all the time and it works one year then falls apart the next. See: Detroit. It's pointless to be like "oh damn that's the way we should do it" because they've had one year of mediocre success - winning a shitty division by virtue of being healthiest.

Yeah I'm not saying I'm jealous of Washington and I think they're a model franchise.

I'm saying I'm jealous they had a bag of dicks owner who finally realized he'd never win his way, so he hired football guys and got out of the way.

I wish that on my team. That is all.

By the way, I don't think anyone (including Detroit fans) were fooled by that little fluke season. The highlight was Harbaugh casting them aside by tossing the coach away like a small child. Stafford is a walking shoulder injury, they had no run game, and also had major discipline and coaching issues. No one is gonna ever confuse Schwartz with an actual top coach.

Even with all that they're still good enough to beat Dallas and they still have a better coach and running game in place.

The moves that Washington made are more impressive. They brought in a well-respected coach and one of the highest character players I've ever seen to lead their team as QB. They might fuck it all up but they're in a good spot to build right now.

SP, I agree with much of what you've been posting, especially with regards to Romo, but I think you're off on this one. Shanahan has done a great job devising and implementing an offense around a rookie QB, a rookie RB and a no-name OL. Will the Pistol go the way of the Run and Shoot? Maybe and even most probably when teams figure it out and RGIII continues to get pummeled. But you still have to give their coaching staff credit for doing something we've been incapable of doing with our offensive skill players.

The Cowboys and Skins are two teams headed in the opposite direction and even Jerry knows it and stated as much. He could have had Shanahan but instead went with Red Jesus and now he's having buyer's remorse. I wouldn't be so certain that the Skins will lose to Seattle. I think they've got a fighting chance, not necessarily because of RGIII, but I think Shanahan is going to devise a game plan that will give them a good chance to win.

With all of that said, if we (or the Giants for that matter) are healthy I doubt we allow 200 yards rushing and they don't win on 9 of 18 passing from their savior for 100 yards.
