Cowboys Not Considering Moving Sean Lee

After missing 18 games over his first four seasons in the league, keeping Sean Lee healthy and on the field is paramount for the Dallas Cowboys. But it doesn’t look like they’re willing to move him to another position, on the outside to be specific, in an effort to safeguard against injury issues.

The reasoning, simply enough, is the Cowboys’ believe he’s too good at his given position of middle linebacker to move him at this point.

“We’ve discussed a lot of things and that’s not one of them,” executive vice president Stephen Jones told 105.3 The Fan on Monday, per the Dallas Morning News. “To be candid with you, I don’t think that we’re really leaning that way. I think it’s just one of those things where we think we’ve had some tough luck with Sean and I think he’ll overcome that.

“He’s so good in the middle there and leading the way, leading the defense. It’s a natural spot for him to work from. Hopefully, we can keep him there and have the complementary guys around him. If he stays healthy, I know it’ll be a Pro Bowl, if not an All-Pro type year.”

Even after losing five games last year to a strained neck, Lee posted 99 tackles, four interceptions (including a pick-six) and six pass breakups.

It's not just tough luck that he's going to overcome.

He's an injury prone player. You'll never get a full 16 out of him.
