ARLINGTON — Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on Thursday shot down a report that disgruntled cornerback Mike Jenkins denied the club access to medical records pertaining to his surgically repaired right shoulder.

Citing an anonymous team source, NFL.com reported the Cowboys are unable to accurately assess Jenkins' progress since the January procedure without the records.

Jenkins was limited to conditioning work during the club's mandatory three-day minicamp, which ended Thursday, and it's uncertain whether he will be fit to don pads when training camp begins in late July.

“(Athletic trainer) Jim Mauer has got all the medical records we need, and we are continuing to get medical information, so that's not right,” Jones said of the report.

NFL.com also reported Jenkins has dismissed the team's request that he remain in Dallas to continue rehabbing his shoulder. Jenkins reportedly has requested a trade because he's upset the Cowboys won't extend his contract and have reduced his role.

“He's going to play,” Jones said. “We know good and well he's not going to sit here and not play this year. That's not an issue.”

Extra points: Coach Jason Garrett was forced to call a timeout during the final practice when a goal-line drill became too physical. ... Fourth-round safety Matt Johnson reported Thursday after completing his classes at Eastern Washington and signing a four-year deal. ... Jones indicated he doesn't believe the NFL will grant the Cowboys' request to start camp earlier than July 30. Dallas asked the league for an earlier start date because its opponent in the opener, the New York Giants, begins July 27.
