Cowboys being considered for HOF Game

The problem last time we did it was we were splitting camp between California and Texas. Unless I am wrong, camp is not being split this year.

What difference did that make? They left San Antonio and came back to San Antonio. This is the first game, not one later in the preseason.

Mid is dead on. Jerry wants the team to be there for more TV time and so everyone can see it in person when he presents Larry Allen (who he drafted of course!).

Worked great in 2010.

You can sell a lot of stadium tour tickets and merchandise to people in ohio and the surrounding northeast.

They know if they go up there and put out the marketing push they will have even more people coming here to pay to see the stadium, maybe even buy tickets.

I dont think there's any monetary impact at all from beign on TV for the HOF game, IIRC its always pretty low rated anyway.

As for seeing Jerry, the HOF induction is on a different day anyway. Whether they are on TV or not for the game makes no difference.

thats one of jerry's imaginary isms........we won a superbowl in 92 after going to tokyo and playing a fifth game with a bunch of star's holding out. So he thinks none of this stuff matters. Its just window dressing.

I'm talking about the players will be there in person to see a former Cowboy going in, and Jerry presenting him. That's supposed to be inspiring and all... At least that's what I remember Jerry saying about Emmitt's induction in 2010.

And there may be no direct monetary benefit from the game, but the more publicity about the team the better. :jerry

Cowboys, Dolphins to play HOF game

The first matchup of the 2013 NFL preseason is set.

The Miami Dolphins and Dallas Cowboys will play in the Pro Football Hall of Fame game on Aug. 4 in Canton, Ohio. Kickoff is 8 p.m. ET.


The news was announced on Twitter by the Dolphins and at the Pro Football Hall of Fame web site.

Both teams that play in the preseason opener usually have connections to incoming Hall members. In this case, the Dolphins and Cowboys each employed Bill Parcells. He was Cowboys head coach from 2003 to 2006 and worked as Miami’s top football executive from 2008 to 2010.

Another inductee – guard Larry Allen – played with the Cowboys from 1994 to 2005. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones will give Allen’s Hall induction speech on Aug. 3.

Other members of this year’s Hall class include Curley Culp, Cris Carter, Jon Ogden, Dave Robinson and Warren Sapp.

The Dallas Morning-News reported the Cowboys had interest in playing an extra preseason game as a chance to better prepare for the shift from a 3-4 defense to a 4-3 scheme under new coordinator Monte Kiffin.

Dallas last played in the Hall of Fame game in 2010; Miami’s last appearance came in 2005.

The fact that we now have to travel from Los Angeles to Canton Ohio and disrupt the start of camp is just so telling in what the jones's believe in. Why would anyone want to disrupt things and go and play in this game and then have to fly back to Los angeles and resume camp.

It makes no sense to me.

I am not sure of this, but who get the money from tickets sold for this game? In the preseason home teams get the money from tickets sold, not sure on this one though.
