His brother-in-law died in Afghanistan:


The father of Army Sgt. David V. Williams released a statement Thursday calling his son "a caring, giving soul."

Retired Col. David W. Williams asked that the public "please remember David Vincent in your prayers."

David V. Williams, 24, died Aug. 18 while serving in the Kandahar province in Afghanistan, the Pentagon announced late Tuesday. Williams was stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state, where he was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment, 2nd Stryker Brigade Team, 2nd Infantry Division. The cause of his death is under investigation, the Army has said.
