What was your reaction when we took Roy Williams?

Roy Williams was a baller in college. He was the first, and so far remains the only secondary player to have won both the Thorpe Award --- top DB, and Nagurski Award --- top defensive player, all in the same year.

To me the safeties in this scheme have to know how to play in space more than being able to cover man to man.

I'm wondering if he has that mixed up. It's the CBs that do more man coverage in Tampa 2.

Absolutely. Or if he's gone, Phillip Thomas or my new pet cat Shamarko Thomas.

Shamarko Thomas is too short IMO. I want my safeties taller than 5'9. You can get away with that height with your slot CBs.

What you're saying makes sense in theory, but if we wanted athletic guards then why did we sign two unathletic fatbodies to somewhat big contracts last offseason?

You beat me to it. There is nothing athletic about Livings, Bernadeau, and especially Costa.

Truth is... I don't think Jerry and Co. knows what they want out of their OL.

Yeah, I thought Elam looked good in the drills yesterday.

Anyway, thought I'd throw in since he seems to be wired in, or at least thinking like the current braintrust, that Stretch Smith said Floyd was our 3-technique. Thought he was easily the best player for that position. Of course he probably will be long gone by 18. Funny, one of the guys asked him about Jerry's tendency to get the new coach the player he wants for his side of the ball, and Smith admitted that was true.

Wonder why Broaddus focused on Lane Johnson so much. To me as a former TE he's a LT only. Don't see him as a fit on the right and there's no way we'd move Tyron back at this point. And he probably won't last to 18 anyway. Still think Fluker would be a good fit for us at RT. Maybe after a small trade down?

I'd be ok with Fluker, especially in a trade down scenario.

He plays much bigger than 5'9. I could be wrong about him but he's a gifted safety who's overshadowed by a deep safety class. I was hoping he'd have a good combine.

His vertical yesterday was 40 1/2. For 5'9 that's good. And as it states above, he ran a 4.42 40. Just my opinion on this kid. If you get a chance check out his you tube videos. He's plays good on tape too.
