[h=1]Brent’s lawyer plans to seek gag order[/h]Posted by Mike Florio on July 2, 2013, 6:09 PM EDT
Cowboys defensive lineman Josh Brent has been put in jail for violating the terms of his bond by smoking marijuana. Brent’s lawyer wants the prosecutor to quit talking about the case.
According to 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, George Milner plans to file a request on Wednesday to prevent District Attorney Craig Watkins from talking about Brent. Milner believes Watkins recent comments to 105.3 The Fan, which include Watkins explaining that he believes Brent should be incarcerated, cross the line.
Brent remains behind bars pending a July 19 hearing regarding whether he will be released pending trial. The trial date has been moved from September 23 to November. It’s unclear how the Cowboys will handle Brent’s roster spot until the case is resolved.
Watkins’ comments to 105.3 The Fan make one thing clear. A plea bargain isn’t possible unless Brent agrees to serve time.
