I just cannot see what Jerry sees that would make Jason a good head coach. I still have no idea what Jason's "program" is that he is trying to implement over the years. I can't tell where they are headed when his play action vertical offense is at an all time failing low while the non-parts of the offense like finesse/zone running and the short pass for the first down have been succeeding.

But when Jerry said that Jason is coming back right after the last game, I thought of 2 possibilities.

1. Jerry is going to wait for all other teams to fire and hire before releasing Jason. He has a college coach in mind or a commentator so he is just waiting.

2. Jerry is still training his coach, although I think Jerry really wants a WCO, Jason is adamant about using his system. So Jerry will bring in a new OC with a new offense (my hunch is Kubiak) so that Jason can be completely free of any link to anything he might damage with his stupidity. He will draft defense and keep a strong DC that has nothing to do with Jason either.

3. But then there is this...which is totally plausible as well. Daddy Warbucks tells Little Red Head that he is not ready yet to be fully adopted, and brings in a head coach to train him. Kubiak would work here too because he was a player coach who had to be a head coach after very limited coaching experience. Gruden or Homlgren would work as well.

Check it out. http://www.isportstimes.com/article...cowboys-rumors-jason-garrett-staying-head.htm.

Option 3 is just sick, I have never seen it work in the nfl and it would be ridiculous if applied to any company. Its like haveing a shitty manager, he has been a shitty manager for years, and thinking he can be a good manager if the correct underling shows him how. Why wouldn't you just hire the tutor? Why would he listen to the tutor? Why hasn't Jason brought in his own guy for this f he needs one and is willing to listen to him? If he wot listen, why bring the guy in at all.

That just sounds ridiculous even for Jerry standards.

Also, if Garrett accepted a demotion he has less balls than anyone imagined.

Garrett is HC next year. Why? Jerry doesn't have to walk on eggshells, Garrett lets him run his mouth into any microphone in the area, Garrett lets Jerry do whatever he wants and Jerry's bottom line hasn't been impacted.

Winning? Secondary for Jerry.

Again, when asked if he is embarrassed about three straight losing win-and-in games to end the season, Jerry's immediate answer, his instinct, was to say "Would you get embarrassed if you were standing in this stadium?"

That's it, the very essence of what Jerry is about. His ego, his shrine, and his cluelessness about what these past two decades has actually done to his legacy.

The sad thing is that if Jerry stepped back and hired a good front office (a la Robert Kraft) he'd probably be a shoo in Hall of Famer and actually garner respect around the league. He probably gets in at some point anyway due to contributions to the game, but not for his GM work.

I'm sure as a businessman he is respected, but I'm sure he is a laughingstock among football guys.

I know of 3 personally who think so. It's not a large pool of people I know, but the 3 don't know each other and they all have the exact same opinion.

Jerry's problem is he thinks because he played (and his run away insistence that he be given credit for everything) that makes him an expert. I think he saw from 1989-1993 how good Jimmy was, and how things seemed to come so easy that he thought he could easily duplicate it. And he's been trying ever since.

I can get the struggles to find good players. Everybody hits and misses. But what I don't understand is why the easiest thing for him to do has been so hard- HIRE A GOOD COACH. Especially with as many chances as he has had at it now.

because the good coaches won't work under his constraints. Any talented coach with a sack leaves the building as soon as they realize Jerry is trying to castrate them. It took Dan Reeves a day or so to realize he was about to get gelded and then he was gone in a flash

his lack of self-awareness is remarkable

If there were more than 32 of these jobs, I'd agree with you 100%

And even though its been awhile since we won all the time, the Cowboys are still a tremendous name brand and consistently get the attention of the media and fans.

Good point, I should have said the best coaches who also have a sack won't coach the Cowboys under Jerrys terms, IMO
