I don't know what he offers other than speed.
Hes not better than Dwayne Harris as a receiver or a special teamer.
He has no upside because he's alreday near 30 years old.
Just a weird, meaningless move IMO.
I will say this...when he was with the Redskins I kind of liked the player.

The way I look at it is like this...resigning him and adding Winston does not leave us in a position where we have to force a pick at OT or WR. With Armstrong back you have Dez, Austin, Harris, Beasley, and Armstrong. You also have Coale coming back and I want to see how Benford develops. That is not a bad group at WR at all. Obviously if a WR of value presents itself in the draft, you take it, but we won't have to force it. I think we have done a good job at LB as well with the addition of Durant and bringing Sims back. That leaves OG, DT, and S as priorites that can be addressed.
Jesus... if we're making draft day decisions based on whether or not Armstrong is on the roster or not then this team is really fucked.
Read it in it's entirety, don't cherry pick. OMGZZZZ...our 5th or 6th WR is 30. ~pees pants~
If you look at our WRs though, all of them outside of Austin are 24 and under. Austin is still only 28, but he does not strike me as a guy who is a leader. Now I know age does not make you a leader, but maybe he is helping some of the young WRs in ways we are not aware of. I don't see it really costing us much and if an upgrade presented itself I think we cut him like we already did. Maybe for a guy like Spurlock.I get what you're saying. I'm saying that Armstrong should have no bearing whatsoever what we do on draft day. He's just a warm body, IMO.
If the team is going to "force" a pick at WR, I don't think it'll matter if Armstrong is there or not.
And might I also add, I'm against anyone that far down the depth chart being so old. They should be solid developmental players once you get to the third string. That, or do one thing exceptionally well. I.E. you can run routes like a drunk and have hands like a leper, but be greased fucking lightening as a punt returner.
I don't think Armstrong does anything exceptionally well either.
