Martellus Bennett caught the ball in a 7-on-7 drill, turned to pick up some extra yardage and tripped. He slammed the ball to the turf once he got up and limped back to the line of scrimmage.

"I've been limping the whole training camp,'' Bennett said.

The tight end's camp debut was delayed a week by a sprained left ankle. He's had some good days since his return, but it's obvious in some practices that the ankle still bothers him.

"It's the same stuff that has been bothering me the whole camp,'' Bennett said. "It's been lingering. It ticks me off sometimes because I try to cut or something and can't really do what I want to do.

"It's been getting better, but it's hard to get it 100 percent when you're running on it every day and getting treatment. It's like you do a little bit, you gain, then you lose a little bit. It's something I have to stay on top of.''
