Daniel Jeremiah said on 103.3 just now that he's talked to several executives picking down the line who don't need a QB (so they have no incentive to not be honest) that have moved Wentz above Goff in their evaluations. Interesting if true. I'd still take Goff.

I can understand why Wentz playing for a small school would scar some teams off however physically he has everything you would want in a QB. Teams have also obviously been impressed with the way he handled himself at the Senior Bowl. He's bigger, more athletic, and at very least has equal arm strength to Goff. I don't see why it would surprise anyone that several teams would rate Wentz over Goff. With that said Goff is still a stud QB too.

With Myles Jack's knee issues and if both Goff and Bosa are there at 4 would you guys still take Bosa over Goff? Personally I'd take Goff in a heartbeat.

Goff might be better initially, but I think Wentz definitely has more upside. He's also bigger and appears to have a stronger arm. Those who have commented on him say he has all the intangibles you look for as well.

If Wentz is gone and Goff is there, I'd take Goff as well.

when you look at how few small school QBs ever make it to the NFL its amazing how many are slobbering over Wentz who only started 23 games.

but then every time I hear someone START by talking about his size and arm I tune them out. They clearly do not understand that its the mental part that is more important and there Goff is clearly more established then Wentz. So what if Wentz is bigger and has a stronger Arm? Jumongus could throw it 70 yards on his knees. whoopie doo. RG3 was slobbered over because of his athletic ability; and where has that led?

In every article talking about Goff and Wentz I look for how they describe the way they prepare and study and work the mental aspect of the game. And so far I see Goff being more dedicated and harder working in that area.

IF we had truly gone 2 TE it would have been OK as Fasano showed he is a good TE. But since we did not his pick was wasted. Barbie was a pick that just went bad because no one realized that he and AJ Hawk working together made them both look a lot better then they actually were.

Green to me was the one that did not make sense; I looked at game film on him and he just did not impress me; I noticed against the best teams he did not produce a lot.

McQuistan managed to hang around the NFL for quite a while as did Fasano and Carpenter so from that point of view its not as bad as it looked. Just we got so little out of them.

The 2006 draft could serve as smelling salts to Cowboys fans who get excited about the draft, but wish they didn't.

Everything that has come out about Wentz says he has the mental part down too. He did only start 23 games however he also won 2 National Championships during that time.

That's every Cowboys draft. But I agree, this one more so than past drafts

And that seems to be the problem. How many players have we had over the years that underperform as a Cowboy then excel on another team?

The problem is our coaching more so than the ability or talent of the player oftentimes

But all three probably wind up doing very well on other squads.

Maybe it's Jason Garrett being a former QB and seeking vengeance against DBs who foil his red headed domination of the defensive secondary with his clever 9 routes, but he has really been the incumbent coach for some stupid moves in the Dallas secondary.

Will Allen (case in point of playing better for other teams check Wilcox stats against this Will Allen Stats, News, Videos, Highlights, Pictures, Bio - Pittsburgh Steelers - ESPN)
Corey White
Tyler Patmon

Replaced with JJ Wilcox, Josh Thomas, and Deji Anatole??

Would rather stick with the first group

Then we still have the RKGs Church and Heath and, by the way, check who is still listed on the current Dallas Cowboys roster at safety if you Google it? dallas cowboys roster. Right.

what I hate is how few late round picks we seem to develope into quality players. Nuts anyone after the third round pretty much falls into a black hole never to be seen again.

That was something the seahags were able to do very well- they got something like 5 or 6 quality starters and a couple of pro bowl players from picks AFTER the 4th round

If it was so easy, everyone would be doing it.

Its not all about late round picks though, for whatever reason we do seem to hit on quite a few UDFA guys.

because we miss on so many middle round picks, UDFA's have more opportunities here.

Yeah, udfa's seem to do well here mostly because our depth sucks.

Outside of Miles and Romo, what UDFA's have had impacts? And no, La'el doesn't count.

10 quarterbacks the Dallas Cowboys could target in 2016 NFL Draft, plus their measurements from the combine

By Jon Machota , Staff Writer Contact Jon Machota on Twitter: @jonmachota

The Cowboys need to start identifying their quarterback of the future and it could be addressed as early as the fourth overall pick in April.

This isn't a great QB class. You won't find any can't-miss prospects like Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck at the top, but a franchise caliber option should be available.

Dallas could also wait to grab a QB in the second or third round to develop over the next few seasons. Either way, it's probably best that they at least come away with one of these 10.

1. Jared Goff, California

Arm length: 32 3/4 inches

Hand size: 9 inches

Most predict that Goff will be the first QB off the board, meaning he might not even be available with the fourth overall pick. The 6-4, 210-pound junior threw for 4,719 yards, 43 touchdowns and 13 interceptions this past season.

Expert: "My initial study of Goff tells me that I think (Goff is) a more natural and better overall thrower than (Marcus) Mariota. I think he's a better prospect than Jameis Winston. ... I think his skill set, his throwing skill set, his looseness as an athlete, his light feet, I think he fits, theoretically, any system." - NFL Films senior producer Greg Cosell on WGFX-FM in Nashville, Tennessee.

2.) Carson Wentz, North Dakota State

Arm length: 33 1/4 inches

Hand size: 10 inches

Wentz's stock continued to rise after a strong showing at the FCS Championship Game earlier this month in Frisco. Although the 6-6, 235-pound senior hasn't faced the FBS competition others on this list have, scouts don't seem to be worried about his ability to transition.

Expert: "He has a NFL-style skill-set with his size, athleticism and arm talent, but his intelligence and intangibles on and off the field might be his best qualities. The Dallas Cowboys' coaching staff will likely be coaching Wentz on the North squad during the week at the Senior Bowl, giving Jason Garrett and his staff an advantage. Wentz is a first-round prospect in the 2016 NFL Draft." - NFLDraftScout.com's Dane Brugler

3. Paxton Lynch, Memphis

Arm length: 34 1/4 inches

Hand size: 10 1/4 inches

Another tall option. Lynch stands at about 6-7, 245 pounds. He didn't have many offers coming out of high school but evolved into a great fit for Memphis' uptempo offense. Biggest win while at Memphis: The Tigers upset Ole Miss, 37-24, last season as Lynch passed for 384 yards, 3 TDs and 1 INT.

Expert: "While I still believe he's an intriguing prospect with potential, I see him as a developmental prospect who will need time to grow into the position. If I had to compare him to a current pro, I would cite Ryan Tannehill as an apt comparison. Lynch can function at a high level in executing concepts that are similar to the tactics he runs at Memphis, but he will need time to transition to a pro playbook." - NFL.com's Bucky Brooks

4. Connor Cook, Michigan State

Arm length: 33 inches

Hand size: 9 inches

A three-year starter in a pro-style system, Cook (6-4, 215) had nearly identical numbers the previous two seasons. In 2015, he led the Spartans to the College Football Playoff, throwing for 3,131 yards, 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Expert: "The most polarizing guy in the draft is going to be Connor Cook. Watch. Scouts argue about him all the time. We've seen him long enough that everyone's mind is made up already. He's a third-rounder to me and an average starter at best." - NFC regional scout last month, via NFL.com

5. Christian Hackenberg, Penn State

Arm length: 32 inches

Hand size: 9 inches

He had his best season during his one year playing under Houston Texans head coach Bill O'Brien. During that freshman season, Hackenberg (6-4, 230) threw for 2,955 yards, 20 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. During the two seasons since, he combined to throw 28 TDs and 21 INTs.

Expert: "Although he has special arm talent, the tape shows flawed decision-making, poor pocket awareness and streaky accuracy due to unstable mechanics. There is no question that Hackenberg will benefit from NFL coaching, but the game still moves at light speed for him and hasn't shown signs of slowing down - is he already damaged goods? ... Overall, the physical traits and arm strength are ideal for the NFL, but Hackenberg doesn't show a natural feel for the game and lacks a strong grasp in three critical areas of playing the position: touch, placement and decision-making." - NFLDraftScout.com's Dane Brugler

Next 5 (in alphabetical order)

Jake Coker, Alabama

Arm length: n/a

Hand size: n/a

Kevin Hogan, Stanford

Arm length: 32 3/8 inches

Hand size: 10 1/4 inches

Cardale Jones, Ohio State

Arm length: 33 3/4 inches

Hand size: 9 3/4 inches

Cody Kessler, USC

Arm length: 32 5/8 inches

Hand size: 10 7/8 inches

Dak Prescott, Mississippi State

Arm length: 32 1/4 inches

Hand size: 10 7/8 inches

Notable: Prescott has said that he was a Cowboys fan growing up and has met with team officials. Our own Rick Gosselin even called him the "Cam Newto of this draft."

"I'm not sure where he goes. I think it'll be a team that wants the same type of offense that Carolina has with Newton," he said.

Mosley is saying his Cowboys source told him not to forget about Lynch.

Also, I wonder if Henry did so well at the Combine that someone could take him before we get a chance in the second.
