I do agree with what someone else posted earlier, the more he plays probably the less success he will have. He just doesn't have enough arm strength to make a lot of the needed downfield throws. Can probably throw downfield if the guy is wide open and he can put air under it, but will never be able to make those intermediate range throws on outcuts or skinny posts.

He does handle the ball well though and gets into his dropback quickly, and he does appear to make fairly quick decisions. It honestly looked like he had a better grasp of the offense than Cassel had, and Cassel's been in the league forever.

Church did the same thing on multiple plays tonight. Way late or got lost and allowed completions multiple times.

And both missed shit tons of tackles.

Demarcus Lawrence got credit for a sack and four tackles for loss tonight. Had a number of really good pressures too.

Anthony Hitchens is so much better at MLB than he is at SOLB. Led team with double digit tackles tonight.

Byron Jones looks like a really high end player, whether its at FS or CB. Gregory starting to resemble guy he was in preseason.

Tyrone Crawford might have had his best game of season tonight too.

Defense was really outstanding most of game, save two fucking players who ruined the game by themselves. Even Nick Hayden isn't the same level of shit as Church and Wilcox.

Best case scenario now is 6-10, which is still highly unlikely. Pretty 6-10 would still put us somewhere in top-10 though.

That means at a minimum there were 20k or so no shows. And a huge portion of the crowd was there cheering the Jets.

I bet they'll struggle to have 50k there for the season finale.

Like I said I think a case could be made for Cassel being the worst offensive player in the league and Church being the worst defensive player in the league (of players who were regular starters)

I think Cassel even made a probowl once too with the Chiefs. How did he turn this bad exactly? Honestly he looks like a guy who has never taken a practice rep.

Kellen Moore looks like the Henry Rowengartner from Rookie of the Year out there but at least he was out there playing football. Cassel and Weeden seemed paralyzed running this offense. Moore had some Romo-like flare out there. The kid threw 3 INT's but he also gave us a chance to win.

Buffalo will have a week to prepare for him and will blitz the crap out of him. We might end up winning what could be a Who Cares Week 17 game against the Redskins with Moore out there flinging (lollypop throws really) it out there.

Cassel crumbles: Down

Matt Cassel had the resume and experience to keep the Cowboys competitive after Tony Romo went down. That's why his performance is so perplexing. Cassel got worse the more time he got in this offense. He was dreadful Saturday, completing just 3-of-8 passes for 37 yards with a bizarre, pop-up interception after he almost fell down and a 19-yard sack.


Down and out: Down

The Cowboys struggles on third down have reached epic proportions. Dallas was 2-of-11 on third down Saturday night, failing to pick up its initial third-down conversion until the final play of the third quarter. The offense is an unheard of 4-of-31 on third down over the last three games, which comes out to 12.9 percent.


One bad turn: Down

Dallas once again showed it is one of the league's most generous teams. The Cowboys suffered through another miserable evening with four turnovers _ three interceptions by Kellen Moore and one by Matt Cassel. The Cowboys have turned the ball over 27 times this season, tying them with Indianapolis for the most in the NFL.

Takeaway from the game for me: Matt Cassel might be the worst QB in football. I actually almost feel sorry for him. He wasn't good to begin with, but then -- and I said this last week -- I think he got the yips. Didn't even trust himself to pull the trigger because he knew he sucked. How the hell did anyone EVER think he could play?

Reading the tea leaves, and I thought this before, I really think he was Garrett's guy. It makes sense: The Garrett homers last week were trying to sell that Weeden was more a Jerry guy and some in that building (Garrett most likely) didn't believe in him. Cassel is the type of straight-down-the-line, "looks the part", "has won games in the past" vet like Garrett has liked in the past. They've always said Linehan is the big Moore fan and the only reason he's here, so that basically leaves only Garrett as the Cassel guy.

But that's typical of this fucked up organization that three different people in the chain of command each have their own pet cats at the same position.

Anyway, our defense did play pretty well but of course still allowed way too many third down conversions to a career spare like Fitz.

And at least it was refreshing to hear even long time Garrett fan Steve Dennis say in the postgame that Garrett had to stop with the "relentless spirit" and "fight/scratch/claw" garbage after yet another loss.

Patriots promote rookie Joey Iosefa over Montee Ball

The Patriots have added some aid to the backfield.

New England promoted fullback Joey Iosefa to the active roster Saturday, per the league transaction wire.

With just two running backs -- James White and Brandon Bolden -- on the active roster, the Pats needed to add a body to the backfield. Bill Belichick elected to elevate the rookie fullback over former second-round back Montee Ball, whom the Patriots singed to the practice squad this week.

The Pats waived linebacker Eric Martin with an injury designation in a corresponding move.

Iosefa is a 6-foot, 247-pound between-the-tackles runner -- an aspect of the offense the Patriots lack with LeGarrette Blount out of the season. The rookie was a seventh-round pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers out of Hawaii. Iosefa toted the rock 512 times for 2,218 yards with 21 touchdowns in four seasons as a running back at Hawaii. He added 60 catches for 438 yards and three TDs.

During the draft process, NFL Media analyst Lance Zierlein described Iosefa as a "one-speed running back with some weight behind his pads, but not enough explosive power to offset his lack of burst and overall athleticism." The Pats hope that one speed is enough to move the chains when needed.
