WASHINGTON (AP) — A bipartisan group of 10 lawmakers is suing President Barack Obama for taking military action against Libya without war authorization from Congress.

The lawmakers say Obama violated the Constitution in bypassing Congress and using international organizations like the United Nations and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization to authorize military force.

The lawmakers want a judge to issue an order suspending military operations without congressional approval. They said they were filing their lawsuit Wednesday against Obama and Defense Secretary Robert Gates.

The plaintiffs are Democratic Reps. Dennis Kucinich of Ohio, John Conyers of Michigan and Michael Capuano of Massachusetts and Republican Reps. Walter Jones and Howard Coble of North Carolina, Tim Johnson of Illinois, Dan Burton of Indiana, Jimmy Duncan of Tennessee, Roscoe Bartlett of Maryland and Ron Paul of Texas.

Good to see. Obama is trying to get away with something here that he condemned Bush doing when he was in office, even going as far as to call it illegal. Guess the legality of his actions matters very little to him now that he wont the election.

This move is 100% political and has no chance of impacting Obama's current position in office. There is a good write-up about it all here if you care to look:

http://www.ohioverticals.com/blogs/...tutionality-of-military-action-against-libya/

It basically states that Obama violated the War Powers Act but it will not hold up in court because the Act will be deemed unconstitutional if it makes it that far. It makes impeachment a possibility but I don't think there are enough pissed off congressmen to push it to that.

Obama was wrong using military force against a sovereign country, that didn't attack us. Shocking , I know.

Like with Bush, we shouldn't of went into Iraq, and we have no reason to be in Libya. Bush atleast had congress approval.

Still, either way, both were wrong and it's just another notch in the hypocritical belt that Obama wears.

Hopefully people wake up and this jackhole doesn't get another 4yrs in office.
