So, what's the CB room rundown so far, starters and backups...?
Revel and Bland on the outside and Durant in the slot and Carson, Stewart, Butler and now Balentine serving as any combination of positional depth backups?
Who'd I miss?
Me too. The team would have to honestly question themselves whether additional defensive support through trade or draft or combination of the 2 could help the team just as much as Pickens getting a new deal.
I guess there would need to be a huge leap by Fluornoy as WR2 but he did flash...
Yeah, I hope a big 3rd year leap as well. Because I would hate for it to be a mid season or before scenario in which he gets benched for Tyler Smith or his injury problems arise again.
Fair enough. Do you also share full confidence in Riley/Adams transforming Guyton into being a more than serviceable LT as well? His season ending performance was not too good and I pondered a bridge vet such as GB's Walker whom Carolina signed for what I thought was a very reasonable 10 mil...
I hope Parker assigns Durant to slot CB and leaves him there. I hope Durant can be the long term replacement for Jordan Lewis's noteworthy slot contributions before mistakenly being let go.
A vet addition to the LB room like Brooks or Al Shair would lessen the pressure of being pigeonholed into a need a 1st rd LB home run mentality on draft day imo.
But then again , I still hope they take one LB and one edge with the 2 1st rd picks.
Yes.
Pre and post injury contracts are a huge difference.
Jerry does especially poorly "rewarding" players with 2nd contracts/extensions AFTER having sustained major injuries.
It's his personal GM affirmation clause of IF I pay them this much even though theyve had a career performance...
All of his post 1st injury performance has been poor. I told you a while back that this would ultimately be how he'd be remembered.
It's your site and you got your opinion so it's all good there BullDog.
Roll Tide anyway.
I'll preface by saying I'm Roll Tide so there's that.
But I made this exact same prophetic remark concerning Diggs as to how his recent history/legacy would be perceived:
And that was precisely as above in that " he has missed ___ number of games out of possible ___ since 1st injury/2nd...
I can't lie I also seem to be stuck in anticipating when will one of those "Same Old Cowboys" moments/plays occur to justify my own inability to have optimism towards my team. It sucks but its an unfortunate truth I face.
Good writeup. Because my fandom has been beaten down so regularly by similar games in the past I prepared myself for that Same Old Cowboys moment to happen but it never did.
I honestly was in a little bit of genuine shock at the outcome because my pessimism has evolved into that Stephen A...
Freakin' Stafford is playing at such a crazy elite level with all his different arm angle throw abilities and the eye discipline disguises they show he uses on replay looking off defenders and such.
Besides his natural ball placement/accuracy.
Just really exciting to watch him spin it this year...
I think if our defensive interior can match their defensive interior for a full 4 quarters then we've got a shot.
That's a tall ask but it's why those Cowboys DT moves were made so let's see what we've got!
Cowboys!!
Most of my attention will probably be geared towards watching the oline vs. Fangio's front 7 to include Carter as a participant this time.
The Raider's d line, other than Crosby, is not the biggest accomplishment for me what with how the Cards and Carolina fronts dominated the oline still kinda...
After that last game and even with all the new defensive faces the best I can come up with is a low 30s nail biter that "maybe" we can win.
Kind of a coin toss for me honestly.
Bills run defense gets an honorable mention if for just this Dolphin game alone.
Wait, their run defense actually sucks as the worst in the league.
Like, worse than ours.
Hard to fathom but misery loves company I guess.
