    NFL Week #9: TNF | Arizona Cardinals (6-1) @ Dallas Cowboys (6-2)

Giants getting rolled tonight. Their next two games are at Seattle and home vs San Fran, decent chance they lose both of those and will be 3-7 going into the game against us. Their season would essentially be over. Maybe they'll lay down for us that night.

Yes, they totally decided sitting on those cap dollars Orton had was wise. We didn't need any cap space to further help out the team anywhere else at the time. You know, like at the start of free agency.

Bob Sturm's thoughts on the game

oh excuse me...you meant when the team lined up and attacked in the 3rd quarter, when Weeden completed 3 passes on three drives. sorry

And again, if that were true why didn't they release Orton immediately to free up further cap space and sign another free agent at a position of need? Its not like Orton had a minimum wage deal, there was some significant cap money tied to him.

He is? How? He posted an article that says he was signed as insurance in case Orton wouldn't be here, and same article says Cowboys officials believed Orton would play. At the time he was signed, he was not intended to be the primary backup QB. I guess its understandable coming from you.

Bob Sturm's thoughts on the game

Gee lookie here. Somebody else that didn't see Weeden playing good football. This is from Broaddus:

Understandable. You said you saw the offense working with Weeden when nobody else in the world of watching sports did.

What do insurance mean? He was not signed with the intent that he would be the #2 guy. Same article even says a team official says they don't believe Orton will walk away.

Bob Sturm's thoughts on the game

Eh. The Cards sold out to stop the run, and did a better job than anyone else all year at doing it. However they were greatly aided in that by Weeden playing so poorly.

I didn't see any wrong routes, Weeden blew those plays IMO. Or people missing many blocks. Weeden doesn't get all the blame. The D did give up too many 3rd down conversions, and gave up 4/4 redzone TDS and the blocked FG was inexcusable on the ST, but Weeden deserves the vast majority of it...

No he wasn't, if he were they'd have released Orton immediately and saved the cap space when they could have used the money on another position. They absolutely thought Orton was coming in.

My views on Romo have pissed off a number of people over the years, so accusing me of being a blind loyalist to him is pretty stupid. I have criticized him a ton, I even used the term "washed up" earlier this year. But I can give credit where credit is due, and he was sensational from the 2nd...

Right, and they thought all along that Orton would eventually come in. It wasn't until right before camp that they gave up on Orton Weeden was never intended, or expected to be the #2 guy when they signed him.

They didn't sign Weeden to be the #2 QB in March. They signed him for an extended look-see, with the idea being he'd potentially be the #3 guy (behind Orton) this year and maybe replace him as the backup next year. They also needed extra arms for the offseason program (OTA's and throwing...
