We'll put him right between Romo and Kenneth Gant.

    Bucky Brooks:Romo Among Clutch QBs

He was a try-hard, scrappy overachiever but his play wasn't legendary. Great special teamer and adequate nickel back but no legend. There are a lot of non-legendary Cowboys who went to the Pro Bowl multiple times.

    Bucky Brooks:Romo Among Clutch QBs

Hos went apeshit when I balked at him calling Bates "legendary." I like Bill and all, but he's not a Cowboy legend.

televising games made him date celebs and endorse products before he won anything?

Describe the moment you liked tony romo most

It's too late. He's too old to learn new tricks, like not throwing INTs off your back foot as you're falling backwards. And he violated Tuna's "don't be a celebrity quarterback" edict long ago.

If not push then groomed to be the heir apparent. The Packers didn't wait for Favre to be old and broken down before drafting his successor. Nor did they worry about his feelings.

Describe the moment you liked tony romo most

I'm not just talking about 2014. Competition was needed years ago but was never forthcoming. And now, because of Tony's contract and the owner's man crush, it won't be coming at all.

for starters, not bringing in any serious competition to push him. then there's the unusually close relationship he has with Garrett.

Describe the moment you lost faith in Romo

that game was kinda emblematic of his career (minus the backbreaking interception). he racks up enough points to win, the defense chokes away the lead, Tony valiantly drives them down the field to get into FG position, and JPP blocks the kick. even the harshest of critics had to be sympathetic.

You do realize that Jerry will be putting him in the ROH one day, championship or no championship, right?

Harris is a good returner, but blocking kicks or whatnot ain't our thing.

Describe the moment you lost faith in Romo

We've been average because of the defense and some curious Garrett playcalling. For the most part, the offense does its job week to week. My Orton hypothetical is predicated on the o-line keeping him upright, as they did in WK17 last year. If that were so, he could conceivable put up as many...

Describe the moment you lost faith in Romo

why can't an average QB steer the team to an average record? Orton can't move around like Tony, but with a wealth of weapons at wideout, a healthy Murray, an eternally youthful Witten, and a rapidly improving o-line, it's plausible that Orton could have put up enough points each week to get us...

Describe the moment you lost faith in Romo

well, with Orton gone, I can't test my theory anymore. no one expects Weeden to guide us to .500 if Romo goes down.

Describe the moment you lost faith in Romo

no, Tony is the better overall QB (duh), but thanks to Orton's height and arm strength, there were many throws in the Eagles game that Tony could only dream of making not just any QB, but a seasoned vet like Orton who has started for other teams? yes.

Describe the moment you lost faith in Romo

what are we doing now? thriving? Romo's talent makes games "exciting" and watchable, but if he leaves without winning anything significant, I won't miss him when he's gone. the Kyle Ortons of the world can just as easily steer us to 8-8.

Odd dichotomy around here, i.e. fans/realists who otherwise have no use for Jerry or the team yet have a soft spot in their hearts for Tony. The next big battle will be over his legacy.
