If you trade him, you don't necessarily get better on the field. Jenkins only had one down year and is a proven product (health notwithstanding). I don't take the "move to safety" rumor seriously.
Agreed. Claiborne would have to be twice the player as Jenkins to justify this move. Otherwise, we stay the same. The issue back there is Scandrick and the safeties, not Jenkins or Carr.
Agreed, CB was a luxury in this draft. Another classic case of Jerry falling in love and overpaying. In the meantime, no pass rush help, no bullies on the o-line, and no help at safety.
I don't get it. Jenkins + mystery player at #14 + 2nd round pick > Claiborne. How will he even get on the field this year? As a nickel back? By beating out Jenkins?
It also illustrates the foolishness of falling in love with a certain player. They should have called Minny's bluff. Richardson ain't the only good player who made sense for Cleveland.
Of course not, but that's not what you asked. Nor do I buy the Jenkins comparisons. Jenkins had multiple run-ins with the law, was thrown off his team, and fathered four kids by three different women. That doesn't describe Hurricane Irvin in the slightest.
