I think he was benched because there was no hope of winning. I would have benched him sooner for poor play. But, I also think Rush sucks, so it would have solved nothing.
Subsidizing is an idea, but I don't see it happening. Dak's cap hit next year alone is 90 million. He takes up 33% of the cap. It's more likely that Dak agrees to a restructure so Dallas can get more talent, they'll add years to the contract or something.
I agree that Dallas is screwed. It will take something lucky to replace Dak. Maybe taking a QB in round 6 or 7, or an UDFA that turns out to be great. Then Dak becomes a very expensive backup who is disgruntled and willing to renegotiate his contract to make himself tradeable.
But I'm not...
Jerry is NOT getting rid of Dak for at least 2 more years. The contract will not allow it and other GMs are not stupid enough to trade for that contract. I feel confident that Jerry will not draft a QB even if we have the number one pick overall.
I don't think you realize how much of Dak's contract is fully guaranteed. Dak is ours, like it or not. Jerry won't draft a QB with so much money committed to Dak.
We'll get a high pick regardless. We suck.
Lance? Ask anyone here. i agree that Lance is terrible. I hated the trade. But at least Lance can run. The idea is that we have way too much money invested in Dak to risk him getting hurt in a game like this. Career-ending injuries do still happen.
Like I didn't see how Aidan got hurt, but I...
What goes around comes around. The Cowboys beat up on several teams last year with injuries to key players. And Dan Campbell is likely still pissed about losing to the Cowboys last year.
Everyone wants to be Primetime, but there is only one. Another reason why I'm glad Diggs did not break Everson Walls' record. If I remember right, Walls tackled.
It's time to pull Dak. With so much invested in Dak, the Cowboys can't afford to have Dak suffer a possible career-ending injury. There is no reason to still be playing Dak. Play Rush, or better yet, if Lance is dressed, put him in.
It's a shame that Aidan Hutchinson just got hurt in a game that is currently at 34-6 and easily in the Lions favor. I don't know why coaches paly stud players when the game is obviously won.
I know comebacks happen, but put in the studs if the other team is showing signs of life. As of this...
By the way, I also like that Dak didn't force it to CD. You know the Steelers had at least 3 guys on CD. Last year Dak forced it to CD at the end of one game and I counted 5 guys on him.
Well look, the Cowboys showed some fight in this one. This was a very good win in my book. This was more impressive than last year's romps when other teams had no QB and DeRon Bland got them a pick 6 to force the other team into passing mode. It was an old-school smash mouth win.
I like it!
Oh oh, Martin is down. Looks like this is one of those years. I remember a year in which every OL got hurt. There was also one in which every WR got hurt.
Now maybe someone can crush Dak so Dak learns that it takes a team and it is awfully hard for even the best GM to put together a team...
