2018 NFL Week #7 Gameday Thread: Dallas Cowboys (3-3) @ Washington Redskins (3-2)

He's (Tyron Smith) either really hurt and not been saying anything about it (which wouldn't be a shock, he never complains about injuries or uses them as an excuse) OR the pathetic coaching has finally worn him down. I really don't get the vibe that any of these OL are buying what the new OL...

2018 NFL Week #7 Gameday Thread: Dallas Cowboys (3-3) @ Washington Redskins (3-2)

    THE Amari Cooper thread

I know what they said, but I also know they reportedly tried to sign two other high profile WR's that got huge deals the first couple days of free agency, so they did see the need to do something. Isnt blind speculation either, both those were reported by multiple outlets. Yeah this is a...

    THE Amari Cooper thread

Norm was addressing some of the cap stuff on his show, with TW and Hurns both being gone after this season the net cap effect of Cooper (assuming they don't extend him before) is only about 7 mils. In addition, what we are paying Cooper this yr and next yr is considerably less than what we would...

Really it's more of an indictment on how painfully fucking stupid it was to play for the FG at the end.

    THE Amari Cooper thread

That's a fair point, and we likely wont be at the very end of the round like them. But they still traded a 1st rd pick for a WR, and another team also traded a 1st rd pick for the same WR. Talent is talent. If you can acquire a probowler (especially a 24 yr old one) for a 1st rd pick, it's a...

    THE Amari Cooper thread

Bill Belichick traded a 1st rd pick for a WR. The next year the Rams traded a 1st rd pick for the very same player. And no, I am not saying we are anything like the Pats or Rams. I am only pointing out that teams have traded 1st rd picks for WR's very recently.

    THE Amari Cooper thread

This is not true. They tried to sign two of the higher profile free agent WR's the first day or two of free agency. They also used a 3rd rd pick on a WR that seems pretty promising right now. Like I asked in another post, is it a mistake if he is a probowl caliber player for us? What happened...

    THE Amari Cooper thread

If Amari Cooper is a probowler going forward, was the trade a mistake? The idea isn't that far fetched when you consider that in his first two seasons he WAS a probowler, and is only 24 today.

    THE Amari Cooper thread

Well unless we're giving up a pick in the top 5, the idea that giving up a mid first rd pick would be a "franchise QB" is pretty much wishful thinking. Right now there appears to be only 1 or 2 guys worthy of a 1st rd pick as a QB anyway, and one of those is likely going #1 overall, and...

    THE Amari Cooper thread

It might not work out (again) as you note, but each case is its own deal. Just because the other two didn't work (both a long time ago anyway) doesn't mean you never consider it again. I didn't want to see us part with a 1st either, but I do like the player and there probably no better options...

    THE Amari Cooper thread

This has been debunked somewhat, as Philly offered their 2nd rd pick. Now could we have offered a 2nd and something else and maybe got the deal done? Possibly, but the idea that we "were bidding against ourselves" is not true according to numerous reports. Indy apparently made an offer as well.

    THE Amari Cooper thread

I think at an absolute minimum the addition of Cooper at least makes some teams think a little more about what types of fronts and coverages they can use on us. He's a hell of a lot better than Hurns, Thompson, T Williams and Butler (now gone again) If they were smart (yeah I know, IF) they'd...
