NFL.com writer: Five of top six Cowboys draft busts picked during Jerry Jones era

A guy I went to high school with was an intern in 1994 for the 49ers (the team that traded us the pick we took Shante Carver with. Yes, we actually traded up to get him). He is also a Cowboys fan. He said that when the 49ers scouts and coaches asked who did the Cowboys plan to take with the pick...

    Tyron Smith to visit Dallas

My list would go Peterson, Dareus, Fairley, Smith, Jordan. I would trade up for Peterson but not Dareus or Fairley. I would take them at 9 if they were there but I don't see that happening.

Should Dallas trade up to select Peterson?

Because the guy making those extra draft picks sucks at it. He's like a kid with ADD. He does better with less to do and in shorter time periods. See 2009 Draft aka crapfest.

    Major: The Great Safety Debate

Alan Ball was ready to step up last year. I know this because the Holy Trinity of Football Knowledge (Jerry, Wade, Campo) told us so, over and over again, last summer. Landry would definitely bring a physical presence and Weddle is pretty scrappy as well. Huff is more of a speed-athlete guy...

    10 Worst Picks Since 2000

but but....Jerry is the best. How can this be? Wait, I know. All bad picks can be chalked up to Parcells or the philosophy that "the draft is a crapshoot". Jerry secretly awaits the end of the draft and snatches up Undrafted Free Agents who are clearly better than any draft pick and that he knew...

    Major: The Great Safety Debate

If we signed Dawan Landry and Michael Huff our defense would improve significantly. Eric Weddle as well.

    A draft scenario....

but also a much slower motor. I'd be less thrilled with this pick (in the 2nd round).

    A draft scenario....

if no one slips and your scenario comes true, Moch would be a pretty good pick. Ware on one side and Mooch's speed on the other? Uh oh...

    Kiper Mock 3.0 3/9/11....

If we truly want Peterson, Cleveland is looking like an ideal trade partner. If both AJ Green and Julio Jones are avail at #6 they may feel confident with us taking Peterson #6, that the 49ers (Michael Crabtree) and Titans (Kenny Britt) will not be in the WR market, and they will still get...

Ryan Mallett runs 5.37 forty time at Pro Day

what no one is reporting (yet) is that he is actually slow. Like mentally slow, he has some learning issues. Not his fault but he will have some issues in the NFL.

Cowboys' passive approach towards safety position is mystifying

I would like to see AOA at safety but I fear he will be ruined by Campo and playing with a crappy Safety counterpart. If we signed/drafted/traded for a quality safety then I wouldn't be as nervous with AOA out there next to him.

    Lande's Fab 40 3/7/11....

SportingNews draft stuff has really been going against the grain the last few years. I don't think you'll find too many publications (or NFL teams) that agree with Ryan Williams at #10 or Patrick Peterson at #26.

Cowboys To See Atogwe Twice -- As A 'Skin (MERGED)

After last year's colossal miscalculation on Ball I would think "hole at Free Safety" has to be playing over and over again in that hillbilly's head. Atogwe is a very smart and effective player and I would have loved to see what Ryan could do with him. Also, he was available now. The Redskins...
