I started at alt.sports.football.pro.dallas-cowboys over on USENET (does anyone remember USENET groups?) and Dan Smith's COWBOYS-L listserv (does anyone remember listservs?) back around 1994-95 or so. I stayed on USENET and the listserv for years, avoiding the web-based discussion groups...
