    QB Tidbits

I don't remember if Virgil Carter was the one without looking it up (though I thought it was a different name?) but the original QB in that offense had a huge arm but tore up his shoulder, robbing him of all his arm strength. So Walsh was forced to adapt and totally change his scheme to all the...

Source: Giants ownership divided over future of Tom Coughlin

In Philly, division championships and winning seasons 2 out of 3 years get you fired. In Dallas, division championships and winning seasons 1 out of 5 years get you cheerfully still employed.

    QB Tidbits

Let's be honest: The painful truth is, odds are that the QB who follows Romo will look somewhat competent for a while (because he'll have some talent) but will never be special enough to make a difference. He'll probably get the fan base excited for a little while because he'll be new and...

    2016 NFL Draft Thread...

Goff looked pretty "can't miss" yesterday. It's only one game so you can judge too much, but I think he looks much better than Lynch does today.

    2016 NFL Draft Thread...

Sure there will be other good players, but don't we have to get a franchise QB this year? We most likely won't suck this much and pick this high again until Tony is completely finished.

Yep, me too. Almost makes me fear a trade up.

    Saban on Garrett (surprising)

I mean, Garrett worked for Saban for two years as a QB coach. Do you know how many coaches Saban has employed over the 40 years or whatever he's been a coach? He's had scores of guys like Garrett. Probably so many he can't even remember them all. I'm sure he'd give a glowing recommendation...

    Saban on Garrett (surprising)

:facepalm Which Garrett lackey in the media even bothered to ask Saban a question about our spare coach? If the game weren't in Dallas this never even would have come up.

    Eagles fire Chip Kelly

They fired a coach much better than the one in Dallas.

So, with Carrot Top staying, what coaching changes do you see?

Linehan is probably fine just because Romo likes him. But just today for some reason, maybe because they were on TV last night, I was checking Ken Zampese's status. He's QB coach at Cincy and apparently has interviewed for a few OC jobs the last few years. Because with our hires, of course...

It's only Air Force, but Goff looks pretty damn good today.

CBS: Holmgren wanting to return to coaching, cites Niners

I still feel like a guy with a dynamic enough personality and a history of success in the league could skillfully work with Jerry well enough to make it work, especially if Jerry respected him enough coming in. Someone like a Jon Gruden could talk Jerry into things and maybe even convince him...

DMN: Jerry Jones won't make major overhaul: Cowboys 'closer than this record indicate

I especially love how he propped himself for addressing the pass rush last year even though it barely improved this year. Also how he admitted he had no clue last year we would be so good, or this year we would be so bad. But we should trust his judgment that we're really close now.

DMN: Jerry Jones won't make major overhaul: Cowboys 'closer than this record indicate

Seriously, how many GMs of a 4-11 team in the history of the NFL have talked about being close to the SuperBowl? I'm betting one.

    Injury update

As concerned as he is with his image, there's no doubt Garrett is fully aware of Campo's 5-11s, and doesn't want to do worse than that.

George: Is the Dallas Cowboys offense too Tony Romo-friendly or too Tony Romo-reliant

So he says this, and we hear years of "Next Man Up" as some brilliant football philosophy... But then he turns around and blames this entire disaster of a season on Tony going down, even trying to use the Cardinals to defend himself.

    2015 NFL Week #16: Dallas Cowboys (4-10) @ Buffalo Bills (6-8)

I see why Belichick would kick in OT. Unless you score a TD yourself, the other team is in four-down territory all the way down the field. That's hard to stop. And now Ware recovers in OT for the win. This year has been so perfect for sticking the knife in Jerry. :towel
