2013 Cowboys draft picks - anyone you want to see?

I haven't seen Randle play yet, so that's part of why I'm looking forward to seeing him in the preseason. Based on what I've read, I gotta believe that one reason the Cowboys had Randle ranked so high is Randle's ability to block/pick up the blitz. That's a very important ability ... a...

2013 Cowboys draft picks - anyone you want to see?

The Cowboys 2013 draft picks are listed below. As you think about it now, who you are especially interested to see play? Travis Frederick, Center, Wisconsin Gavin Escobar, Tight end, San Diego State Terrance Williams, Wide receiver, Baylor J. J. Wilcox, Safety, Georgia Southern B. W. Webb...

Cowboys fill roster spot with Jerome Long

Nothing wrong with the roster churning. Do it long enough and you might find someone who is worth keeping. Long was picked by the Chiefs in the 7th round of the 2012 draft. The Jaguars picked Long off of the Chiefs' practice squad in late December 2012 and then cut Long 4 months later.

This tweet got me thinking: Is Murray another Julius Jones?

In the past, when Murray was injured, it has clearly hurt the Cowboys. But it isn't that Murray is somehow a great running back who cannot be replaced. It's more that Murray is a good back and his backups have been marginal. I'm very interested to see what Joseph Randle will do. I...

Dallas Cowboys ranked 24th in NFL future rankings

Kiper and Edwards ... does anybody really care what they think?

Aaron Hernandez being questioned in homicide investigation

On the football side of this, it is crazy how quickly things have shifted for the Patroits. Not long ago, TE was a remarkable strength for them. Now, the Patriots have huge questions at TE.

Dez Bryant: Offense same, practice intensity different

This is the potentially interesting sentence. I thought Garrett was all about intense practices. Callahan has either increased or decreased the intensity level, at least according to Dez. What's up with that?

    2013 Minicamps/OTA's Thread

Yeah, a capable, experienced vet RB could be an asset. He'd come fairly cheap too, given his age and last year's injury. There are positions of greater need for the Cowboys and only so much money available, but I could see it.

I really thought Markus Steele was going to be a good linebacker for us

Watching BB's clip, it reminds me of how much more entertaining Parcells was in comparison to today's Garrett. I didn't buy into the Henson hype. I was sold on Romo very early on. I've made plenty of other mistakes, though. I thought Sean Peyton was crazy for accepting the Saints job...

    Minicamp observations: B.W. Webb shines

General comment -- Gotta wonder if the NFL's no-pads idea is a good one. NFL players are going to make contact in practices. And if you are going to have contact, it seems stupid set up situations that invite contact without pads. Maybe the NFL rule should institute "no contact practices...

Eatman: Five Reasons Why Cowboys Should Acquire Vince Young

Never thought I'd say this, but I will. I'd rather have Tebow. He could do the scout team thing that Eatman talks about above and Tebow could get some game snaps too, if only as an occasional H-back. (To be clear -- I don't want Tebow, but I'd pick him over Vince Young)

Watkins: Jason Garrett should come clean

I'd like to see that too ... I've wanted to see it for the past several years. But it all comes down to the OL. The OL should be somewhat better this year, but I don't think they are even close to becoming a strength for this team.

Hitzges goes off on teh J

Baltimore would have been a good job. Impossible to know what kind of success Garrett might have had there, of course. In some ways, being overpaid by Jerry and having Jerry serve as a shield of sorts isn't the worst situation. By shield I mean that because Jerry rightly gets much of the...

Quick Hits: Garrett Discusses Decision To Delegate Duties

Sure there was. By the way, if you look up "miscommunication" in the dictionary, you'll see a photo of Jerry Jones. This photo:

Hitzges goes off on teh J

Jimmy had solid offensive and defensive coordinators. I don't think that having these coordinators makes the head coach less of a head coach. I never bought into Jerry's relatively recently stated belief that the team is better off when the head coach also coordinates either the offense or...

Hitzges goes off on teh J

I think Norm is right on most counts. But of course there have been several times when Garrett has been overwhelmed on game day. So I think the actual decision to delegate some of Garrett's game day responsibilities makes sense ... but that the decision making process was flawed and that...
