Day After Thoughts (day early)- Week Five

The 2 minute offense look of either empty backfield or with one RB as a blocker goes back to the "take what the defense gives" because it's based on checking the coverage on the WRs and making a determination of the most probable open WR at the LOS. Romo has this mastered between the 40s but...

Day After Thoughts (day early)- Week Five

The coaching is part Linehan because the offense looks a lot more like Linehan's motion, formations and misdirection that he had in Detroit than what they do with Romo playing Garretts "vanilla"- "just beat the guy in front of you" offense. Remember Garrett disapproved of such variation for many...

But when he messes up like that he fakes injury most likely so he doesn't get blamed. Feel sorry for the injured kind of thing.

I wonder if the offensive line plays harder for Dak more than they do for Romo. Romo carries them but they carry Dak?? Thoughts?

Five things to watch when Cowboys face Cincinnati Bengals

Which means "I hadn't thought of any of that. Was I supposed to?"

    2016 NFL Week #5: Cincinnati Bengals (2-2) @ Dallas Cowboys (3-1)

There are a few theories I see here: 1. The Belichick mimic of Edelman, Troy Brown, Mike Vrabel where a good player can play multiple roles. Showers is not big, fast or clever. This theory would be like the 12 personnel mimic, the Romo is a pocket passer mimic and "we want to be aggressive at...

    Day After Thoughts- Week 4

Dez or Zeke? I think Zeke is such a physical and fearless runner that in the open field he loses track of the most elusive path. He seemingly finds defenders to run over.

    2016 NFL Week #4: Dallas Cowboys (2-1) @ San Francisco 49ers (1-2)

The espn Dallas show with Nate Newton and some other guys at night were talking about Garrett being almost Belichick at his press conference. It was JJTs article about Jason not being consistent and not holding his team accountable that I think set off Jason. JJT was on the radio on Friday...

    Day After Thoughts- Week 4

It's just kind of scary who the Dallas brain trust would consider a viable option, their criteria for what makes a good player and then what they will give up just to get another meatloaf like Benson Mayowa. "Well we traded for Justin Trattou because we liked what we saw of him when he was on...

    Day After Thoughts- Week 4

Good post dbair. There are no long posts, only short attention spans. (Of course I have cut things down ever since Middy called me out in "Seriously you should post...." The Bailey kick blunder was back to Garrett "coaching" at its worst. Why not use the spread formation, run the clock and get...

5 takeaways from Cowboys' win: Zeke's big day; Claiborne proves he's Dallas' best CB

I've seen the same thing. He's getting low and holding on by himself. He's not going to be any sort of incarnation of Jack Tatum but he's getting it done without whiffing. But here's my question. Would Dallas be better off in the secondary with 38 year old Terence Newman or the current...

    2016 NFL Week #4: Dallas Cowboys (2-1) @ San Francisco 49ers (1-2)

Dak is very blue collar and seems to force Garrett out of the constant 2 minute offense and make the play calling more practical. They still have absolutely stupid leftover Garrett tendencies that: 1. Throw the ball on 3rd down and goal or for the first down with no play action, no spread...

I saw that too. Surprised Aikman didn't say anything.

    Would you trade Dez Bryant?

If it led to a blue chip pass rusher or a Pro Bowl playmaker at safety/Db, I would. The team needs speed at WR for this offense more than brute force and strong possession skills. Talent on the defensive side of the ball, like John Lynch said, is very important right now.

Predict the score and something else...

Dallas 13 Sf 12 I thought the same thing about Daks interception. Desperate times in this offense means stupid and predictable pass plays. But I will pick something else. Sean Lee will have a sack. Jaylon Smith will be obnoxious on the sidelines. He has some nerve.

    2016 NFL Week #4: Dallas Cowboys (2-1) @ San Francisco 49ers (1-2)

I think if Jason had managed Dez, the fine, and the press conference the right way, Dez would not even warm up. I'm certain they are pretending there is an actual legitimate chance Dez could have played and they are having him do everything all the way up to game time and not put him in. Because...

Cowboys feel they have the depth to survive Bryant’s knee injury

I was going to ask the same thing. What is Butlers strong play? What does he do well?
