He far out-performed his career path to the league, but he was never "immensely talented"
He was also a horrendous leader who didnt care enough about winning.

maybe immensely is too strong of a word. maybe just call him talented. his houdini escapes took talent to pull off. he did that often. he threw a good ball too

He was a good player. He wasn't great. He wasn't immensely talented. Give him all the credit in the world for going the UDFA way and becoming a quality starter but that's about it.
He just wasn't a "winner" or a leader of men. As good as he was, he probably could have accomplished far more had he really dedicated himself to the game and the team. He cared more about having fun, being one of "the guys" and banging celeb blondes than he did working out or winning championships and Super Bowls. He also took the lame route with Jones in regards to Garrett. Other than Aikman (and now maybe Prescott) no player had more direct pull on Jones than Romo, and Romo stood by and watch goober fuck the franchise by sticking with Garrett all those years.

He threw this ball from basically his own 20 to Washington's 25. He rarely displayed arm strength like this. Naturally, Team Obliterator dropped it.
