Predict the Opening Day 53 man roster

I'm hoping for 100% participation from all 7 of our members.

Winner will receive a DCU "attaboy" (or attagirl if it's DaBoyz)

QB (2)- Prescott and Milton. Don't see them keeping 3 this year.

RB (4)- Jevonte Williams, Jayden Blue, Phil Mafah, Hunter Luepke (FB, RB, H-Back)

WR (6)- Lamb, Pickens, Turpin, Tolbert, Flournoy, Mingo

TE (3)- Ferguson, Schoonmaker, Spann-Ford

OL (10)- Guyton, T Smith, Beebe, Booker, Steele, Hoffman, R Jones, A Richards, Bass, Cornelius

DL (10)- Parsons, Kneeland, Ezairuaku, S Williams, Fowler, P Turner, Odiggy, M Smith, S Thomas, Toia

LB (5)- Liufau, Sanborn, Murray, S James, Clark (Overshown will start year on PUP or short term IR so he doesn't count)

CB (5)- Bland, K Elam, Revel, Carson, Diggs (might start yr on PUP or short term IR, if so Hall or Goodwin will make it)

FS/SS (5)- Wilson, Hooker, J Thomas, Mukuamu, A Clark

ST (3)- K Aubrey, P Anger, LS Sieg

I'm not sure if the starting RB is on the team yet. If the guys we have are just so-so I could see them pursuing a trade. Jalen Tolbert might be a trade candidate. Bass might be another trade candidate. One of the backup DE could be a trade candidate Wilson is a potential surprise cut.

No faith in Sanders? Hater.

I believe the WR Brooks is a ST gunner so that might give him an edge. Many are saying Mazi is going to walk the plank and maybe Tolbert. BTW Mazi said he he wasnt happy with is performance Saturday night. Apparently he cant remember the last 2 seasons. God awful draft pick.

I don't hate Brooks and fine if he makes the team, but it shouldn't be at the expense of Flournoy (who appears to be quite talented and seems like he has future starter potential).

I think Tolbert might end up traded before week one. He has some value as a 3rd/4th WR for some teams I'm sure, just not here. Turpin's skill at WR seems to have greatly improved and he is a real weapon as the #3, Flournoy is an excellent talent. Brooks as you mention has extra value as a starting ST. They seem happy with Mingo who by all accounts has had a good camp, and he fared pretty well last Saturday night to. That leaves Holden, who has jumped out to almost everyone. Maybe they can sneak him onto the PS but it's fairly evident now he should have been drafted. Good chance he would get scooped up if exposed to waivers.

I think Mazi is done if there isn't some noticeable improvement here over the next two weeks. The only things working in his favor is he was a late 1st rd pick in just his 3rd yr and everyone behind him pretty much sux except for Winfrey, who really isn't a 1T type DT. Good chance the eventual starting DT next to Odiggy isnt on our roster currently.

RB (4)- Jevonte Williams, Jayden Blue, Phil Mafah, Hunter Luepke- Leaving this at 4, with Williams and Sanders battling for one spot.

WR (6)- Lamb, Pickens, Turpin, Flournoy, Mingo, Holden- I think Tolbert will be traded to create the final spot for Holden

TE (3)- Ferguson, Schoonmaker, Spann-Ford- no change

OL (10)- Guyton, T Smith, Beebe, Booker, Steele, Nate Thomas, Hoffman, A Richards, Bass, Cornelius,- Jones is IR'd, Cornelius might be battling Lael Collins for last spot

DL (10)- Parsons, Kneeland, Ezeiruaku, S Williams, Fowler, Odiggy, S Thomas, Winfrey, P Turner- Mazi is probably not making the team without a big final two preseason games. Toia was not good at all in Rams game and might be more PS material. At least one new DT is prob on the way, P Turner isnt a lock unless Parsons misses regular season games.

LB (5)- Liufau, Sanborn, Murray, S James, Clark (Overshown will start year on PUP or short term IR so he doesn't count)- no changes, although Clark after a strong offseason and camp did not look good v Rams. He might get pushed off in lieu of someone else

CB (5)- Bland, K Elam, Childress, Goodwin, Carson, (Seems like good bet neither Revel or Diggs makes the opening day roster due to short term IR/PUP, Carson is also hurt. Hall or Pride might sneak onto the final roster now.

FS/SS (5)- Wilson, Hooker, J Thomas, Mukuamu,- no changes

ST (3)- K Aubrey, P Anger, LS Sieg- no changes

Dak gets hurt in first preseason action and is ruled out for the season Joltin Joe becomes QB1 and blows the league away leading us to a 15-2 record and the #1 seed. We proceed to kick ass in the playoffs, win the conference, then beat the pants off Buffalo in Soup Bow 60.

Final predictions:

QB (2)- Prescott and Milton. Similar to last week, leaving him on but won't be surprised if they sign a veteran and at least stash that guy on the PS, or perhaps waive Milton and sign him to PS after week one when the vet contract is no longer guaranteed.

RB (4)- Jevonte Williams, Jayden Blue, Phil Mafah, Hunter Luepke- Same, don't think Sanders has done anything to warrant a spot.

WR (6)- Lamb, Pickens, Turpin, Tolbert, Flournoy, Brooks - I still think Tolbert might be traded. They might run with 5 if that happens

TE (3)- Ferguson, Schoonmaker, Spann-Ford- Schoonmaker with another injury may end up shaking things up some. They seem to really like Princeton Fant

OL (10)- Guyton, T Smith, Beebe, Booker, Steele, Nate Thomas, Hoffman, Adenji, Bass, Cornelius,- sounds like the reporters think Richards is done here. Has some ability and maybe someone we could swap for a 7th

DL (10)- Kneeland, Ezeiruaku, S Williams, Fowler, Odiggy, S Thomas, Winfrey, James Houston, Wheat and either Earnest Brown (who was held out last night, wasnt injured) or rookie Toia - I don't think Toia warrants a spot and he ultimately may end up on PS. I didn't leave out Parsons, I think he will get traded now. Mazi is toast I think. I think at least one new DL will be on the opening day roster, likely a DT.

LB (5)- Liufau, Sanborn, Murray, S James, Clark...no changes and a solid group. Overshown will return later in season it seems

CB (5)- Bland, K Elam, Booth Childress, Diggs, - Looks like Revel and Carson may begin season on short term IR. Diggs may be in line for opening day 53 but prob wont play for 2-3 games. Goodwin will be released but signed to PS and then likely activated for most game days. This would be a spot I'd be looking for help at.

FS/SS (5)- Wilson, Hooker, J Thomas, Bell, Mukuamu or Clark- Mukuamu played late into the game with the other 4th stringers, that cant be a good sign. UDFA Alijah Clark may have bumped him

ST (3)- K Aubrey, P Anger, LS Sieg- no changes

I think we are wasting our time hanging onto Mazi. He is a liability on the defensive line. After three years you know what you have. Time to look for FA help and let Mazi go.
