You've been blinded by Dak for so many years you've forgotten what a real franchise QB looks like and it's not Sorsby. Nothing I've seen on his highlight vids screams franchise QB. No one will take him in the 1st with that kind of baggage and I question his mental toughness. When a kid has a chance to be a decent player and get drafted and choses to fuck it all up over gambling, of all things, then he's too weak minded to be the franchise. Gambling...not pussy....but gambling. No team will truly put the weight of a franchise on this kid's shoulders.
The baggage is a huge question mark, he should have stayed away from the gambling no question about it. If he has a gambling addiction (which apparently he says is true and he got treatment for it) then you wonder if he can ever truly beat it. That said, with how easy it is to gamble now I think the prevalence of it with high school and college kids is probably a lot higher than what most people believe. I don't think he's a complete outlier. The gambling itself is bad but if it comes to light that he bet AGAINST his own teams (especially in games he played in) that would be a deal killer for me for sure. It brings into question all sorts of bad shit. I'd be a little more forgiving if he didnt bet on games he was involved or if he bet FOR his team.
But from a talent standpoint I don't see your concerns really. He's big (6'3, 230 and looks like he carries the weight quite well), he's obviously athletic and he does have a really high quality arm. His offensive system wasnt just throwing 1-2 yd passes at or behind the LOS either like so many of these modern schemes now, there's a lot of downfield throwing. He also seems to be an excellent decision maker and avoids throwing into bad coverages (he also doesnt throw many picks). A good QB coach needs to work on his footwork and reliance of throwing from different arm angles so much but the arm talent is there.
There are no more John Elway/Troy Aikman type franchise QB prospects. The college game has basically ruined it for those type guys. They recruit the QB spot differently now because of these ridiculous spread schemes.
