So it would be better to have a shit QB and therefore shit team because that would never inspire hope? Give me a break.

And hastening Jerry's demise as a GM? What the hell? The only thing that has hastened that at all is old age. Jerry's never given a shit about his effectiveness as a GM except for one time when building a new palace was on the line.

Might have hastened Jerry's demise as a GM, and for sure we wouldn't have Ginger for 10 frikkin years, if what you're saying holds water. Romo was the carrot on the end of the stick that kept everyone hopeful for a mediocre team, year after year. And really it winds up, the Denver game a few years back where we matched Manning point for point until the end, when Romo not surprisingly shit the bed with a late pick we simply could NOT survive there, is a microcosm for his whole career.

Score 48 points and lose, it's the QB's fault, not the defense's. Makes perfect sense.

Would you blame the defense for losing a 6-3 game?

Pretend Manning wasn't hanging fortyburgers on most everyone that year, if it makes you feel better. Romo shit the bed anyway. Period.

And yeah, some 1-15 years instead of a steady diet of .500 ball for a average might have woke the drunk bastard Jerry up. At the very least, our draft positions would have been better.

Some coach once said 8-8 is the worst record you can have and it's for the reason I'm citing - if only this if only that we coulda been a contender. We're doing it right we just gotta keep it going. Then 20 years later you're still a mediocre team.

And I didn't blame the QB for shit, I merely pointed out the fact that Tony shit the bed in that game, at the worst possible time where there is NO way we survive it, and said that game was a microcosm for his whole career. And it is - ALL the excuses were in play, and no matter what, by hook or by crook, his fault the refs fault Jerry's fault Garrett's fault, or the fault of the flawed system, or fault of other players, the wind, the weather, whatever - Tony Romo spent ten years as the Dallas quarterback and never got the job done. That's the indisputable bottom line.

It doesn't matter the whys or wherefores, the what-ifs and the almost was - the happy go lucky chuckling butt slapping grinning Romo, the "what me worry kid" of football, the "that's okay we'll get 'em next time" lovable loser wayfarer, never got it done in Dallas.

You could go with that or you could go with the botched snap in the Parcels/Seattle playoff game where he got tackled on the 6 inch line. Always a day late and a dollar short. I always harken back to the blown PI call in the Lions playoff game a couple years ago. If not for that, Ginger has a goose egg in the playoffs and Romo has one post season win in a decade.

Witten's never got it done, either. Guess he sucks too.

And Trent Dilfer still > Dan Marino. Cuz he got it done and stuff.

Wow, you're off the deep end here.

So exactly how much are the Cowboys saving with Romo's retirement? I've heard some say $10.5 mil and others say $14 mil. If the $14 mil is correct does this open up the chance that they trade for Richard Sherman? He's scheduled to make $13.5 mil this year and the Seahags seem desperate to trade him.

$14 mil. But that won't be available to spend until June 2nd.

Hey, at least he's available if we somehow need him...

He's still undermining Dak Prescott. What a selfish SOB.

Wouldn't we still retain his rights in that case, like the Seahawks did with Marshawn Lynch?

Nope. They didn't put him on the reserve/retired list, which would have meant that the Cowboys own his rights. They're just releasing him.

That's your own meter and has nothing to do with my point you can't assail.

And Trent Dilfer still > Dan Marino. Cuz he got it done and stuff.

Again, your own meter and completely nothing resembling my point.

And hey - none of the 3 players you mention got paid over 1 million dollars for every win he was in on. Romo did.

The game was lost on Romo's mistake. Regardless of how you arrived at that point, Romo threw the pick at the worst possible time. Had he thrown it earlier in the game it would be survivable, but when he had the ball in his hands for what should have been the game winning drive, Romo choked. Just like the fumbled hold against Seattle.

Dan Marino won 8 playoff games including a conference title game win. He also at least played in a Super Bowl. Not a good comparison to make with Romo.

Just from what I've been hearing so take it for what's it's worth but apparently CBS has a clause in Romo's contract that will allow him to return to the field only if the Cowboys come calling. Also Romo stated the Cowboys are the only team he would consider coming out of retirement to play for. They released him in order to allow him to keep all of his signing bonus. If he had retired without the release he would have owed money back to the Cowboys. Jerry had no interest in forcing Romo to pay that money back.

I'm watching the NFL network and the teaser that they had right before the break had me rolling

"If you had to sum up Romo's career in one word it would be confusing"

"For every 4th quarter comeback there was an epic fail"

That shit had me busting up

Then they have a panel of four ppl and they ask them if Romo will be a HOFer and they all say no!

And before you Romo butthurters jump on the bandwagon to come to his aid remember one thing

It's only funny cuz it's true!
