Dez Bryant after watching Redskins’ game plan for Antonio Brown: LOL

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant is aware what happened Monday night. As in, how the Washington Redskins chose to cover Pittsburgh Steelers All Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown — with Bashaud Breeland, and not $16 million cornerback Josh Norman.
Asked about that decision on Tuesday, Bryant had a funny response.

“No comment. L.O.L.,” Bryant said before walking off laughing.

Like, he actually said the letters L-O-L, which is terrific.

Bryant, you see, had his hands full with Norman last season in the Cowboys’ Thanksgiving Day massacre at the hands of Norman’s former team, the Carolina Panthers.

Norman got in Bryant’s head early in the game, and the banged-up wideout — Bryant was battling foot, ankle and knee injuries at the time — was limited to two catches for 26 yards with Norman seeing a lot of him that day.

When Norman signed with the Redskins this summer, we salivated at the idea of him seeing both Bryant and New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. twice per season. It turns out that Bryant also is excited about the potential matchup.

“I can’t wait,” Bryant told The Dallas Morning News. “I think it’s going to be exciting for both sides. We look forward to playing some great football.”

Bryant and Norman actually have been respectful of each other over the past year when asked about each other.

“He has earned his respect in this league,” Bryant said. “When you go up against a guy like that, you’re going to have bring your best because if you don’t, he’ll get the best of you.”

Norman made similar comments about Bryant this summer.

The Redskins’ strategy on Brown failed badly. He torched them for a huge night that included two touchdowns on Breeland’s watch. One would have to think that Norman sees — if not travels with — Bryant quite a bit on Sunday. Norman bit his tongue respectfully at his new team’s defensive game plan after his first game in a Redskins uniform. But it would shock no one if the ultra-competitive corner begs Redskins defensive coordinator Joe Barry for a shot at Bryant.

If it happens, it will be fun for all to watch. And it might justify the Redskins spending so much on their cornerback.

Not to worry, Redskins. We aren't smart or sophisticated enough to move Dez to the matchup we want anyway.

Dez can LOL if he wants. He's on pace for 16 catches and 128 yards this year.

Jerry Rice, who?

Our answer to "getting Dez involved" will probably be no more than that token WR quick screen we ran a few times in past years. We'll do it even if the Redskins have 3 or 4 guys over there waiting for it, then Red Clown will say "well we tried to get him more involved"...

Then we can move onto more important plays, like the 2 yrd turnaround to Witten or the Witten TE screen.

Rice's numbers would look similar to that if he had Garrett calling shots too I bet.

OT, but for the life of me I can't figure out why we don't do that anymore. It's an easy throw and Dez is a beast with the ball in his hands. We ran that a lot to him and even to Miles in 2009 and now we never do it.

The Broncos do that several times a game with Demaryus Thomas and it works great. And Thomas doesn't even have Dez's downfield ball skills so you'd think defenses would be ready for the quick screen, but they still get great results out of it. We could too with Dez if we tried it.

Dez is a moron. He considers himself one of the best in the game. He's a stupid ass.

This post represents why pot should be illegal everywhere

What is incorrect about it? Did Dez have better numbers? Does Dez not consider himself one of the best in the game? Is Dez not a stupid ass?

Sheik is 3 for 3 from where I stand.

He's universally regarded as one of the best in the game. He's posted some huge numbers.

He had an off game the other day in part due to a rookie QB starting and in large part due to a coaching staff that doesn't know how to maximize opportunities for him either.

The guys a good player, he wants to win badly/hates losing and he works his ass off. We need more guys like that, not less. We have plenty of the "ho hum its another loss, it'll be better next time" crowd here.

he's a second tier receiver, just like Romo is a second tier QB. that doesn't make him a bum (duh), but he would trail guys like Julio Jones, Beckham, AJ Green, Antonio Brown, and Hopkins if there were a league wide draft. Breeland, the cornerback who got torched a few nights ago, shut down Dez when he was a mere rookie.

Someone posted that out of 43 plays that Dez was on field for He ran deep routes 22 times.

Dez isnt a burner by any means and is a tremendous YAC guy. 50% of his plays hes going down field

I'm willing to bet Garrett's gameplan has more to do with Dez's stats than does his talent level.

Randy Moss was a nobody in Oakland and we all saw how things worked out in New England for him.

Some of yall be cray.

That's why it drives me insane they don't use this guy more on slants, crossing routes, in cuts or as TE mentioned, hell use some of those WR quick screens occasionally. he does have great RAC skills, strong as an ox, he can run through tackles.

But ignoring him is the better option according to Garrett. That 2 yrd pass to Witten is wide open because of Dez getting schemed against, so we need to take it.
