That's a circular argument.

Are the QBs we've had terrible because they were just terrible, or are they terrible because Wilson can't develop a QB?

And if the guys they're bringing in are terrible, what does that say about the QB coach's ability to identify talent?

Maybe, but you really think Wade Wilson has had any real input on who they sign or don't sign?

If you're not asking the QB coach for input on QBs, that's not a real ringing endorsement of him either. If that was going to happen in any franchise, it would be this one... but I doubt they don't at least ask him his opinions on guys who they're bringing in to learn under him.

But if Goff is gone, then who next for you? And why --- aside from Goff being gone?

Here is an issue that too many people and teams forget about. Te majority of the great QB's have had a year to sit and learn at least. Throwing QB's to the wolves in their rookie season rarely works.
Joe Montana- 1 1/2 years on the bench
Steve Young- Deemed a bust and traded to San Francisco and sat behind Montana for 2+ years
Ben Roethlisberger- Had 3 games in his rookie season before he was thrown into the fire and did well
Tom Brady- Sat is first year and took over after a few games in his second season
Rodger Staubach- Sat his first year behind Craig Morton and took over midway through his second season

Do you see a pattern? I sure do.

So my thoughts are this: With Dallas drafting #4 and not having a lot of needs, I feel this draft is considerably weaker than next years draft will be. I think there will be a team looking to move up to grab either Goff or Wentz or Bosa or Jack. And I feel that the Cowboys should trade that pick for future picks in 2017. Romo will not be going anywhere in the next 2-3 years, but if a QB id drafted next year like Josh Rosen from UCLA, he could sit a year or two and then take over. The Cowboys would have the fire power to trade for the pick required to take Rosen if they get rid of the first round pick this year. If it is a worse case scenario then you have Fournette there as well at RB. Not bad options for them next year. I see the Cowboys doing really well next year and not having a high enough draft pick to get either of those players unless they sacrifice the future drafts and I feel its better to sell in a weak draft than to stick with your pick and draft weaker players.

Which if they keep the same scheme with no dynamic WRs other than Dez or Bease, Romo is most assuredly headed to IR next year. It's just too easy to get him and he really has very little options in the offense unless of course they decide to run the ball to protect him.

Of course we have needs, but last year was a freak year as far as injuries are concerned. it's not very often that your starting QB, CB's, MLB's and WR are out for most of the season. I cannot predict that Romo will get injured or not next year. McFadden was not bad last year in gaining over 1000 yards rushing. I feel the O-Line suffered as well because of a lack of Romo changing the protections. DE- How many DE's can we collect?? I can make the same arguement for the WR position, although drafting one who can become a great KR/PR would be a great find. I feel need for a stud DL is a very strong argument but I do not believe there is one to be found in this years draft.

What I do know is that I have not seen the likes of a running back like Fournette since Bo Jackson and I think Rosen will be the next big QB in the NFL. Both are high first round picks and the Cowboys won't be anywhere near picking either of them come next year when they will probably both declare early for the draft.

I'm hoping Butler can stay healthy next season. He should help stretch the field a bit and give Romo another WR to throw to besides Dez because we all know T Willy ain't worth a shit

I'm looking forward to see what Butler brings to the table. He had a decent YPC last season before he pulled his hammy on that 65 yarder down the sideline

As far as collecting DE's, we we can collect em till the cows come home. But if they ain't worth a shit then they are just wasting a roster spot. Lee while excellent when healthy is just another Romo who's made of glass and can't seem to put a full 16 games together without getting hurt. So we can't count on him. Which is almost as bad as not having him in the first place

I do think we have very few holes/concerns on offense except maybe, and I can't believe I'm saying this, the TE position. Witten is at the end of his career, Hanna is a free agent, and Escobar will most likely miss the last year of his contract. Geoff Swaim is a JAG.

We can definitely use a better #2 WR and a RB to compliment McFadden. QB-of-the-future is obviously a factor, but only if the right guy is there. None of those are immediate needs but should be strongly considered.

Meanwhile on defense the team has several holes... 2 CB's, a safety, a MLB, a 1Tech, and a starting caliber DE. The offense just needs to stay healthy, the defense needs a major overhaul. I hope we are aggressive and smart in free agency. If we are, it really sets up the draft as a chance to build for the future.
