Multiple teams, including Miami, expected to inquire about Saints' HC Sean Payton’s availability after this season, per league sources.

Can we please shitcan this coach OJT experiment and get a real coach?

No chance. We're stuck for at least three more years, probably longer than that.

Just have to hope Romo can carry this thing on his back even with no real help from his head coach.

This is where I would hope that Romo would sandbag Garrett, the way Garrett sandbagged Wade.

:lol That would be awesome.

But in a way I think he already has. I'm convinced Tony had a huge say in Jerry yanking Garrett's playcalling duties. Think about it, Jerry loves Tony and knows how valuable he is... That's the root of all the "Romo-friendly" talk. And for years Jerry had talked about how much he wanted the HC to call plays. So suddenly Jerry wants to give it to someone else, even someone who'd never called plays in this O before?

Even if Tony didn't plant the idea, at the very least if he didn't agree with it he'd have gone to Jerry and said look, this is a bad idea, this guy is a great playcaller and I want him doing it. And Jerry would have listened to him. But Tony didn't.

Jerry doesn't believe in paying up for HC. I know he's friends with Payton but no way is he gonna get into a bidding war for him. He's way too comfy with puppet ginger.

Yep, the story a couple of years ago when Sean was on his Bountygate suspension and his contract was expiring was that Jerry made contact with him. But when Sean told him the Saints were going to pay him 7 to 8 million, Jerry basically laughed and told him that he'd better go get him some of that.

This makes sense.

Couple it with how Romo always talks about how close he and Linehan are.
