Please dump that scrub(Vaughn) immediately after the telecast
Most plain vanilla plays we have, lots of handoffs from under center - how do you find out what you have, that way?

How bout some no huddle stuff if you want to see your passing quarterback, pass the ball? They're not putting him in any reasonable position to be successful at this point of his development. Someone else will.

So far today my likes/dislikes:

Likes:
- nice improvement on special teams - although we did, again, give up a return TD.
- 1st team D looks solid and Gregory has that "air of danger" where you know on any play, he can go off on them.
- 1st Team O put together a couple of nice scoring drives
- McFadden - when was the last time we saw a Dallas RB really get the corner like that? He was impressive today.

Dislikes:
- Play selection for the O under Vaughan. Compare that to what Minnesota was calling for their backup guy.
- BIG dropoff for the o-line backups. Any injuries there and we're in trouble. They can't run block or pass protect.
- Randle. Uninspired. Unimpressive.

I dunno. I keep hearing about how much better we're doing at drafting and talent acquisition, yet every year our backups are not competitive against other teams' scrubs. Weeden, Vaughan and Flowers have combined to score one touchdown in 11 quarters of play. That is beyond impotent and incompetent.

@TheJordanRoss: Vaughan is like a squirrel in the middle of the road that panics when he sees a car coming & just runs around in circles until he gets hit.

Got to see the game live, which I wasn't expecting originally.

A pretty rusty looking start to the game offensively but that did get better before Romo exited. Defensively, they didn't give up a TD but the pass rush wasn't as good this week either, and as a team the Cowboys forced only 3 incomplete passes on 27 throws (which is God awful).

My two cents:

1) I think offensively we will be good again. Romo looked good after a so-so start, the OL looked rusty to me early but got better as the first half went on. Romo to T Williams TD was perfection. McFadden looked very good and if he stays healthy could be in for a pretty good year. Randle was ok again running and catching, but got owned again badly on one blitz pickup he had (got run over).

2) I thought both Leary and Bernadeau were bad tonight. Not sure either warranted being in the starting lineup over Collins, who looks far better at G than both of them to me. Collins DNP the entire first half.

3) I've watched football on TV since 1975, I cant ever recall a game where I saw one team flagged for 5 offensive holding calls IN ONE HALF, but our guys were tonight. 2 or 3 appeared warranted (really bad ones on Leary and Bernadeau that I saw) but some of the others looked like phantom call shit. This crew tonight was about as incompetent as it could get, blowing easy stuff left and right and pulling shit out of their dumb asses on other occasions. Several of the games we had on at the bar the bad officiating was VERY apparent, and has been in every game I have saw all preseason. The NFL should just flat out be ashamed of itself for having the level of officiating they do for these games. Unfortunately like everything else Goodell is involved in, its a massive FAIL.

4) The special teams continued their trend of being lousy. Missed tackles galore, gave up another long TD and had numerous penalties. Whitehead double caught a couple of punts and I think is a longshot to make the team now. If you cant catch the ball clean you are 100% useless as a return guy. The one he did catch easily he fair-caught with nobody anywhere near him.

5) I was especially disgusted with the poor tackling, it got worse as the game wore on and the ST tackling was just as bad. They blew 4 or 5 easy sacks with blown tackles.

6) Vaughan and Showers are gone, I cant see any reason whatsoever to keep either of them. Maybe one of them goes to the PS, but both guys were just dreadful tonight. This is two straight awful performances by Vaughan, who appears to have really regressed as a player. Vaughan even got time with the 1st team OL tonight and still looked lost.

7) I get that its preseason and shouldn't be a big deal, but why the fuck punt on 4th and 1 when you are at or across midfield in these games? The first team offense needs the practice FAR more than the fucking punter. This is the 2nd time this preseason Garrett did that too.

8) Appears we had two starters on defense leave with injuries. Wilcox hurt his shoulder or arm and Tyrone Crawford left with what they said was a neck/stinger type injury. I haven't seen updates on either yet.

9) Brandon Carr was a mixed bag. Got beaten for a couple of completions (incl one long bomb downfield) but also picked off a pass and broke up another. I thought Morris Claiborne surprisingly looked pretty decent, didn't get beat any that I saw and would have probably had a pick if not for an offensive PI. I think they did call Claiborne for one PI, but on that play the QB threw the ball to nobody and they still threw a flag.

10) Randy Gregory had another sack and appeared to have a pretty good night again. That said, our DL blew a few other sack opps that cost them yards.

11) The backup OL was atrocious as a unit, again. They are probably fine at G (Martin, Leary, Collins, Bernadeau) but backup T is a major concern and if Bernadeau has to play C, thats a concern because he still isn't right with these shotgun snaps.

Wasn't overly impressive and I cant imagine after watching the film they (coaches) can feel overly good about what Garrett said was a "great" training camp. When I see players missing tackles all over the place and penalties galore, that's a sign to me that they haven't really worked all that hard. I know some players have been genuinely hurt and they needed to be careful with some of them, but some of this was really lackluster tonight.

I'd add that if it were me, a lot of the starters would play in the final preseason game. The OL needs the work and I'm sure Romo would love to get some more throws in before the games count.

I think the defense and ST guys should play some to iron out the tackling issues.

I'm sure they wont do it, but after what we saw tonight it wouldn't hurt.

Yeah I think panic is a good word for it, he just looked lost.

I think those early picks he threw vs SF ruined him. He looked terrible the remainder of that game, reportedly had a mediocre week of practice and then was utterly hopeless tonight.
