Tony Romo Has 2 Fractured Transverse Process In Back

According to Todd Archer from ESPN, Romo has 2 fractured transverse process in back, which is putting his status in question for this weekend’s game against the Arizona Cardinals.

If you’re like everyone else in the world, you’re wondering what a fractured transverse process in back is. Allow some explanation:

A fracture of a bone is the same as a break in the bone. A fracture of a transverse process is a break of a part of one of the bones in the spine. This part extends out from the side of the main body of the bone (called the vertebral body). A transverse process is shaped like a wing. They extend from both the left and right sides of the vertebral body.

The transverse process is a small bone that sticks out of either side of the vertebrae.

Jerry Jones said this week the biggest impediment to Romo playing would be pain tolerance. Offensive coordinator Scott Linehan indicated that it is unusual for a quarterback to miss an entire week of practices and still play; however, there is not much usual about this situation with Jones' team.

No kidding. We're talking about 2 bones extending from the spine. That's not good at all.

Those broken pieces can and will move... Could even be driven into the spinal cord.

:lol

Mother Fucker is going to play with a broken back? I can see him showing up at games in 10 years in a motorized wheelchair. Signing autographs with his mouth pen.

Yeah, he's got to decide whether to play and risk not being able to play with his son or not.

Anyway they'll be able to go in there and fuse those things, dooms?

He may need to be shut down the rest of the year and go under the knife.

Nah they'll probably not want to be that invasive, they'll prolly do a scope job and just remove these small bones and what fragments they find.

Alternative is gutting him open like a fish again.

He just needs to know when to quit, and that time is now.

It's time to walk away, s0n. You've done your bit for king and country. You have served with honor and distinction. Save your future mobility and get out now.

It's probably just a hairline fracture, like Bryce Petty had. I think he played the rest of one game with it (sort of like Romo) and only missed one game.

Seriously doubt there are any bone fragments to remove. If so, he definitely wouldn't play. And I'm sure they'd already have had that surgery.

But this is why his scans took all day long Monday unlike everyone else.
