Iamtdg - I'm with you on this. I haven't bought any Cowboys merchandise in 5 years. It has been a long time since I've attended a game in person. I am going to the Hall of Fame game, but I had already booked the trip to Canton before the Dolphins-Cowboys match up was announced ... so my attendance at this Cowboys preseason game will be almost accidental.

I forgive you. :bffs

Why should I find another team? I was a Cowboy fan many years before Jerry came along. That is the standard CZish homer response. My question to you is, why don't you agree with me? Asba fan of the Cowboys, why aren't you pissed at the man that ruined a once-gteat franchise and made it the laughing stock of the NFL? That attitude is what kills me about the homers. If you love this team so much, why do you support and defend what it has become?

Yep. I will outlast Jerry. I just hope I can outlast his whole family.

No, I dont like how frustrating the team is in virtually all aspects.

But on gamedays I still pull for the team and would never consider pulling for anyone else.

Again, I dont equate liking the etam with liking the teams owner. I dont think Jerry has any freaking clue what he is doing. Good businessman, he has made the franchise and the league a ton of money. But he bumbles too much of the management. It sux, but it doesnt reduce my support for the team.

As for the laughingstock comment, I think you guys go overboard on that by quite a bit. if they were the laughingstock of the league they'd be 2-14 or 3-13 every year and get blown out on a weekly basis. Good players wouldnt want to stay here, or sign in free agency.

They are extremely frustrating because some of the answers seem so obvious, but it doesnt change the fact that I want to pull for them and HOPE they do good on a weekly basis.

When you live and die with a team for decades, starting from when you were a kid and proceeding through middle age, it is difficult to quit that team - even if you strongly dislike what they have become.

This is a 100% fair and accurate statement.

Good players know we offer the best facilities, the most exposure, and the most laid back atmosphere in the league. They also know that if they play well they'll get an extension and can just "coast" afterwards. That's what 90% of the people who sign extensions do here.

The Cowboy facilities are regarded as middling at best right now, its one of the reasons they are looking to relocate from Valley Ranch.

Exposure only comes with some ability to win/compete. When the team was lousy in 1987/88/89, they werent on TV all that much.

Dont agree with the 90% of the guys signing coasting afterwards, but do agree that some probably like the no accountability/lax style that permeates.

A lot of this stuff is just a rehashing of the same arguments, hell it’s football there is only so much you can talk about. It’s just that paradox you find yourself in. Jerry Jones as the owner is good and bad. You love and hate the Cowboys. The love i have for the Cowboys always reminds me of my marriage. For those that have been divorced 15 times, you wouldn’t understand. There is something in my head that will refuse to give up even it everything looks bleak as hell.
