Jones was never the same player after his 2nd or 3rd yr (for whatever reason)

I cant imagine Sean Lee's level of play is gonna drop off the edge of the map because of that freak toe injury.

Jones couldn't stay on the field so he ended up fat.

Same could happen to Lee.

Comparing the two is dumb. Lee has a history of being hurt... a lot. Ellerbe had an injury free break out season last year.

Yeah. Am guessing you'd find exactly 0 NFL personnel people who'd take Ellerbe over Sean Lee

I think Jones had a ticker problem more than anything else.

I don't see Sean Lee ever lacking motivation.

Felix Jones was a backup and special teamer.

Hell, even the team stated as much after they selected him.

You also don't get better as a team by signing players to long term deals who can't prove they can stay healthy.

:thumbsup

It's really a tough call. He's the kind of player you want to keep around for several reasons but he has had trouble staying on the field and the Cowboys have put themselves in a bad spot as far as the cap goes. I think they'll do whatever it takes to sign him to a long term deal, I just don't know if that's going to end up being the best decision.

Another thing you have to consider is that we also will have to re-sign Carter at some point. And Carter is going to be an absolute stud in his own right under Kiffins defense.

How much cap space can you dedicate to LB's?

Carter is the bigger deal to me if we continue with this defense.

I am not advocating tying Carter up, but let them grow together.

The WLB is the key in the scheme, not the MLB.

I would wait and let Lee prove it this year.

But since we are retarded, we won't.

The team should let Lee prove he's worth a second contract, but of course they won't. NaVorro Bowman's 5 year 45 million extension is too high a mark for Lee, who hasn't made a single postseason tackle. He's played 13 fewer games than Bowman despite being drafted a round earlier.

I say re-sign him to a reasonable deal or let him test FA. Few other teams (like maybe the Raiders) would pay superstar money to a non-pro-bowler like Dallas did (Davis, Carr).

If anyone deserves big money, it might be Dez Bryant, though even with him I'd like to wait and see.

Who thinks Lee stay healthy all year? Think Carter will sign a 5 year $50 mil?

Of course you sign him. We are going to be in cap hell no matter what. A six million difference over three or four years is not going to matter at this point. $5 million or $7 million. Really? Now is the time to get cheap? I don't think so.

I'd like to see Lee locked up long term. I'm thinking $45 - $50 million range.
