Remind me again why we drafted Akins?

I personally think that Jerry goes into every draft with the idea that he is going to take someone that no one else is thinking about (taking as high as Jones will draft him). He has told scouts he wants to show the NFL that he is a "true talent evaluator" and that he sees things in players that others don't, including his own scouts.

Look at almost every draft since 1994 for evidence. There's always at least one pick that comes out of nowhere and we take a player higher than others might have predicted.

Arkin was that pick in 2011. Robert Brewster comes to mind. I get the feeling Matt Johnson was this last year's version.

They do that a lot in the 4th. Arkin, Johnson, Stanback, AOA, even Free....I think they target small school guys with really good measureables

We snagged Erick Williams and Larry ALlen from small schools... so lets just do it again!
