Your thoughts in regards to the future of the Cowboys

It truly feels like we are locked into mediocrity for years. Our top core is getting older and unless we tear the draft a new asshole we won't be able to compensate for that.

I'm sure you all remember the nets and cavs playoff series from 2006. After that series it was obvious to me they needed to break up the core and try to reload for the future. They waited too long, their stars lost value, and they floundered for 7 years before they became contenders again.

I feel very strongly the cowboys need to trade off the older stars now.
We won't do that so they're going to go 7-9, 8-8, and 8-8 before romo retires, and ware and witten wind down. With a Todd Bowles hiring somewhere in the middle there

Ware and Witten I could see, altho witten is second in TE catches in the NFC despite everyone anointing Vernon Davis and JerNoHands Finley year after year and pining for Martellus Bennett...but in reality I would absolutely hate seeing either of them in another uniform. I'd rather see us trade guys like Miles (with the way we front-loaded his deal shouldn't his contract be attractive for other teams?) and Dez, Felix and Jenkins, see what we can get for Doug Free maybe from a team that loses a tackle.

But you don't get rid of your servicable QB until he can't walk OR you have a chance to do what Indy did with Luck. Otherwise it could be another decade before we find another one.

Ignoring her age, maybe Jerry's mother dying will be a good thing.

Maybe it'll cause him to stare his own mortality in the face, and come to the conclusion that if he ever really, really wants to see another Super Bowl trophy in Dallas, he needs to step aside.

I'm all for getting rid of Romo

BUT

I agree that I wouldn't rid myself of him until we have a proven replacement

I mean the Pats are equally as bad as we are I doubt they are entertaining the idea of trading Brady at any price - and Bellichick reinvented trading aging stars for draft picks that you either never use or use on Chad Jackson.

Well then you're just turning your proven talent Into its draft pick equivalency and hoping you can replace everyone.

League-wide Ware is easily worth at least two 1sts, but to us we'd be better off with the picks. Because we need to rebuild. So there's logic in going with unproven youth there rather then letting a HOF'er just either away in this shit heap.

Witten has more targets than yards after catch Id take 10 TE's over him.

I just don't think we're there yet. Another year after this of Garrett not improving and I'm with you. Just not ready to give up on this core despite Jerry.

A bird in the hand is worth two in your mom. There are like three players in the league who are on Ware's level - maybe JPP and Von Miller? That's three dudes drafted in the last 10 years across the league. What are the odds that with one of the Ware picks we get we find the equivalent? Pretty shitty, Anthony Spencer says hi. Witten you can say the same about but TE is at least a less important/less valuable position.

Realistically speaking I don't know what you'd get for him right now. All the shit teams want to draft their own guy. And the contenders really don't want to rock the boat. For example I'm sure SF is fine with Alex smith and would rather use the pick on upgrades around him. Not to mention Alex smith is like 27. And that's what I mean about value withering away.

Find me a landing spot for him . The jets?

Theyre in the AFC.....and they're Brady and bellicheck. We're us

Well, that ain't Orton, and Jerry won't draft a "proven replacement" so long as Romo is still youngish and playing at a high level.

Not much to cheer about since the first Giants game this year. Doesn't seem likely that it will get much better this season.

Oh well ....

Yup. Which is why I said there is no hope for this team.

I don't believe in romo any more

And they wear different uniforms.

It's still a terrible idea to trade a servicable QB when they can still play and you don't have a chance to pick in the top 2 of the draft when a blue chipper is coming out.

That's an offseason move.

I'm sorry does ware have a DPOY trophy? James Harrison, Terrell Suggs, clay Mathews, JJ watt all do/will. And all are are ferocious!

You're being disrespectful to your future self. You know we aren't doing a damn thing anytime soon yet you want to keep watching ware because he's the silver lining.
