I thought in the preseason both would be good, they look like the two best teams in the league to me now.

And we will have had to play them 3 out of our first seven games.

Who know we may be 2-1 against them.

I don't think Chi is the 2nd best team. But that's just me. They're definitely close enough to warrant consideration.

The Bears defense is ridiculous. They could be dangerous as the season goes forward.

Just think, lovie smith after the super bowl in 06 almost got loose and came here.

Of all the things that didn't happen that would have been huge this is probably the biggest.

He is a terrific coach and is never mentioned with the top guys around the league. The media talks more about rob and Rex Ryan than they do lovie smith. That's a crime.

Wait... Lovie Smith almost came here?

I don't remember that.

Also, that Bears coaching staff is loaded with quality coaches. A bunch of guys who failed as head coaches, but were good enough at what they did to get head coaching gigs in the first place.

that was the big rumor at the time, lovie was going to get out of his contract or something to that effect and the speculation was that he wanted to be here.....

I can only imagine what he would have done with all that talent in 07,08,09

there were articles and speculation in 06 after the superbowl from the chicago tribune that people close to lovie were saying he wanted to go to Dallas. he is from big sandy texas and grew up lovig the cowboys. i cant find the damn article of course.

I've always liked Lovie and would take him in a heartbeat. But the guy has been under tremendous heat for years in Chicago. I think they've taken polls and the majority of fans wanted him fired for a long time. They've been stuck for years and maybe this year it all comes together, but it's not like he's been considered a top coach by most people.

Again, I've always liked the guy and would love to have him. Just saying that a lot, or even most people, don't agree with that.

Yep, I remember that. He was a huge Cowboy fan and supposedly this was his dream job.

Green Bay IMO is still the team to beat. Their offense is too explosive. Woodson will be back for the last few games and the playoffs. San Fran, Green Bay, and maybe New Orleans over the Bears.

Green Bay's defense still sux, and they have a shaky OL. New Orleans will be lucky to finish .500, they arnt a playoff team at all this year.

Atlanta not getting any love?

A Green Bay team with their offense clicking on all cylinders is scarier than anything else the NFC has to offer.

Same shit happened to Tom Coughlin. Noone remembers that anymore.

But anyways, I've talked to a lot of people around the league and Lovie Smith is universally revered for his coaching mind.

Texans looked unreal against the very same Team we lost to the week before. Houston is the team to beat from Texas now. Sigh.
