By week 3, I expect the following to still be true:

1. Starting center is a liability.
2. Both guard spots are a liability. Not as bad as center, though.
3. Doug Free is mediocre at best on the right side too.
4. Defensive line isnt good enough to match the rest of the defense.

Costa sucks harder than something that sucks really hard.

He can't even wipe his own ass with those tiny arms.

Looks like how our off-season started, with the exception of Free.

It's amazing to me that you have a glaring weak spot, you do almost nothing to address it, save sign a guy who's team didn't want him and another guy who couldn't earn a starting job on a supsect line, and then somehow, someway, it doesn't get better. We have the worst luck since ignoring your problems always fixes them.

Uh huh.

But I read earlier that Arkin "got the job done.", so we're good.

Qualifications for starting center for the Dallas cowboys: be able to hike the ball, or block. We don't need both.

I still want to see us with a healthy line of smith-livings-?-frenchie-free before I come around to the dark side.

I mean, we did all sorts of things to address it, and last night because of injuries we have absolutely no idea if our plan will pan out at all.

Even if you buy into that signing Livings and Bernardeaux were "upgrades" we still did literally nothing to address the center spot which was a glaring weakness last year. Competition and accountability or so I've been told.

I guarantee Arkin was so concerned with his snap mechanics that it is nearly impossible for him to succeed as a blocker.

I don't know when the last time he played center was, but that snap needs to be automatic so you can focus immediately on making your block. He's no doubt thinking about it because of all the problems they had in camp.

It's a process.

I have zero problem with Arkin at center right now, he should have a huge learning curve. He was a small school left tackle in college and 2 years later he's being asked to snap the ball.

Exactly.

Either gingerbread express has no clue (very likely), or Jerry does not listen to him. Either way, they are going with the Quincy Carter-like pupu platter of shitty players that no one else wanted.

All this talk about windows closing...and yet they haven't even improved to 2nd in their own division. Unacceptable when Nicks, Grubbs, and a few viable players were available in the draft.

I think it was one sack.

The steelers with the incredible decastro gave up pressure on Ben r last week on nearly every play. He was hit on every play.

Do you think that is waking up the rooney's or do u think that around the league this is just the first preseason game?

We have to give this line some time until the end of camp before judging it.

Mack needs time to work back in after surgeries and costa and livings need to get back on the field.

If the starting five struggle in ny and against Seattle then we are in trouble.

The thing about the 1st preseason game is that there is usually a gentleman's agreement between the coaches that neither D coach will throw anything exotic at the offenses.

But of course you pointed out that 2 of our starters weren't out there, so that is some comfort. Not nearly enough though.

I'm not going to give Jerry any grief over not signing either Grubbs and especially Nicks. I mean after signing Leonard Davis to that monster contract which he is still paying for... I'd be gunshy in spending that heavy on a free agent guard as well, no matter how touted a player that he is. But at the same time, you can't justify in my mind in franchising Spencer.

I wonder about Free too. He looked pretty solid a couple of seasons ago. Maybe it was easier for him to play next to Bigg (and Witten).

Oh, and another thing about last night. Who gave Larry Allen's number to Bernadeau? Geeze .... I'd reserve 73 for a stiff who is unlikely to make the team (as opposed to a stiff who is likely to make the team).

And who was that wearing 74?

As far as Free goes, I think he received a ton of hype because he played with a bunch of stiffs. He was able to stand out on that line because all the others were pretty terrible. That, and he blocked someone 20 yards downfield. The contract he got wasn't terrible, thank god, but I think if and when players around him start to get better, he'll be the weakest link on the line.

That will be a great day (if Free is our 5th best O Lineman). Right now, he's the clear #2. That's sad.
