Via his twitter..

Dallas tried to get Gordon and Briscoe..clearly looking to upgrade

Steelers sold Holmes for cheap after they were fed up with him...maybe they sell Wallace below his true value too.

Not likely..just saying.

he needs a contract doesnt he?

I cant imagine we pay a third wr big money...

not when olb, safety and maybe center are going to need to be paid or addressed next year.

although, if that thing drags on up there through camp and then jenkins gets healthy...

towards the end of camp a jenkins or wallace trade would be kind of brilliant....

although after hearing what ray horton said about jenkins last year the steelers might not even want him...

though I doubt that with his man to man cover skills.

Would love to have him, but I don't see any way with Dez and Miles already here. Unless we got rid of Dez, which I can't see happening.

There's not really room for him, plus he'll get paid a lot by someone. Probably end up staying in Pittsburgh. He's a huge weapon and nothing like Holmes, who they ditched for off-field and attitude problems more than anything.

yesterday broaddus and josh ellis debated the third wr bit for like a half hour the cowboys break.

it was good.

broaddus kept coming back to the fact that he thinks or was told the team is worried if something happens to austin/bryant there is no one to really step in and play and they want someone with experience.......

I agree with you though, wallace would just be too expensive....you would pay him number 1 money plus give up a player or pick and then you would throw the ball to witten/austin more than anyone and wallace would never be able to meet his price tag from a production standpoint.....

this may sound dumb, but I feel like the quicker interior style wr are a better fit for romo and a guy like wallace is a perfect fit for a guy with Ben's arm or rodgers arm.....I know dumb...but I am not sure we would get the production out of him.

Two reasons why it works

You pay Wallace..he's proven 1) insurance in case Dez doesn't get a 2nd deal 2) if Dez gets another deal we can let Austin go after 3 more years..

At no point in time would we be paying 3 WRs big money..just two

Again, not likely..but I don't think it's impossible to pull off either

one thing is for sure this team let a whole offseason go by again and now have to try and find another wr.

and since we put in a 3rd for gordon and a claim for briscoe something tells me another vet wr is going to be on this team when we go to seattle, maybe not ny but probably by the time we get to seattle.

A lot of whispering between the seats about Wallace and what the Steelers might do. Didn't get the feeling this group would be in the mix.

Are you trading for wallace.
Are you not resigning dez
Are you releasing dez.
Are you trading jenkins..

WR talk is tiring.

Mike Wallace - WR - Steelers

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette estimates restricted free agent Mike Wallace wouldn't net the Steelers more than a fourth-round pick in a trade.

Beat writer Ed Bouchette bases his guess on the fact that no one was willing to surrender a first-round pick for Wallace in the offseason, and because Pittsburgh could net only a fifth-round pick when it dealt Santonio Holmes in April 2010. Holmes, of course, was facing a four-game suspension at the time -- severely undercutting his trade value. The Steelers can get a third-round pick as compensation if Wallace walks in 2013. It's hard to imagine they would settle for less than a second-rounder in a trade.

He's a bad MFer. That said, WR is not the issue with this team.

Pass.

He turned down a 5 year 50 mil offer from the Steelers.

Wants Vjax money, which was only about 5 mil more over same duration.

Just can't see us paying that.

I'm going to be a doubter until he's in a Cowboys uniform.

Logistically, I just don't see how it makes sense.

Especially considering what success the team has had with Romo making chicken salad out of chicken shit at the #3 receiver spot.

It doesn't matter if it's a 7th.

We don't need a starting WR. We need a cheap slot guy.

Its stupid because, if true, they are willing to throw money and resources at WR, when the interior oline and safety positions are a wreck.

We need a 55 million dollar WR? Is that really a pressing need?
