And in celebration of this great day, I bring you the gems of Jerry Jones' career in Dallas. The all suck-ass team. This is the who's who of "WTF!!!!?????" moments in the 20+ drafts run by Jerruh. Now not all these guys were picked by Jerry, but they came under his watch. So......

QB: Quincy Carter- one of the worst draft picks of the Jones era. Drafted two rounds too early, was lousy on and off the field.

RB: Julius Jones- wasnt a horrible player, but they passed on S Jackson to take him

FB: Nicky Sualua- horrible

WR: Alexander Wright- One of the alltime workout warriors. Had 1 or 2 decent games in his college career, then Jimmy drafted him with the first pick of the 2nd rd in 1990. Terrible player as a receiver.

WR: Isiah Stanback- Crown jewel of Jeff Ireland's lone draft he ran. Horrendous player

WR: Stepfret Williams- 3rd rd pick impressed in offseason workouts and early in camp as a rookie, then dropped off the face of the earth.

TE: Anthony Fasano- Some will argue LaFleur belongs here, but LaFleur could play and would have had a good career if not for the back injury. Parcells fell in love with Fasano thinking he had the next Mark Bavaro, but the guy wasnt a good blocker and was dumb as a brick, prompting the team to trade him after two mediocre years. Marty B should get strong consideration too, but Theebs believes the Giants organization is the be all end all of sports smarts, and they just signed him without hesitation. So he must be good.

OT: Jacob Rogers- One of Parcells dumbest moves ever. Went against every Cowboy scout and position coach, who said not to draft the scrub. Couldnt play a lick.

OT: James Marten- Another Ireland flop. I dont think he even made the team as a rookie. Early 3rd rd pick.

OG: Shane Hannah- Part of the infamous 1995 disaster, was rated by some to be a Sunday pick (then final day) but we took him in the 2nd. Fat, soft and couldnt play a lick.

OG: Robert Brewster- See "fat, soft, couldnt play a lick" comment above

C: Clay Shiver- F you Bobby Bowden. 3rd rd pick . Bowden claimed he was the best C he ever coached, we drafted him and he was the epitome of a weakling. Part of the worst trade down (IMO) in team history (see below). Honorable mention to Al Johnson, another Parcells OL flop.

DE: Shante Carver- The post Jimmy era started bad. Should have smelled his breath before we sent the card up (Shante, not Jerry). Alcoholism ruined his career

DE: Kavika Pittman- Worst trade down ever for us IMO. We had Tony Brackens rated as a top-15 pick that yr, and he fell in our lap due to concerns over his knee at the end of round one. We passed, traded down with Washington and took Pittman and Shiver, two horrendous players.

DT: Rhondy Weston- Part of Jimmy's first draft. He passed on his own guy Miami FS Bubba McDowell, who went onto to multiple probowls with Houston. Weston was a 3rd rd pick who didnt even make it out of training camp.

DT: Willie Blade- 3rd rd pick. Stayed fat most of his time. Had one decent season

LB: Bobby Carpenter- One of our alltime busts. Parcells drafted him because the kids dad played for him. STUPID

LB: Jason Williams- Part of the 2009 debacle. Wade "got up on the table" for Williams, who couldnt play in the 3-4 to save his life. 3rd rd pick

LB: Alan Campos- Wasnt an early pick (5th) but couldnt play a lick. Wasted pick

CB: Dwayne Goodrich- Another alltimer flame out. Drafted way too early, was stupid on and off the field

CB: Derek Ross- First rd talent that we "stole" in the 3rd due to offfield issue. Ten cent head had him out of the league pretty quick.

S: Stan Smagala- We technically didnt draft him and many wont even remember who this guy was. But Jimmy traded 5 (yes FIVE) draft picks to acquire him from Oakland on draft day in 1990. Couldnt play a lick, not sure he stayed on the team more than 1 yr

S: Tony Dixon- 2nd rd pick in the Q bong draft of 2001. Good kid, hard hitter. But couldnt play in space to save his life.

There you have hit Universors! You're welcome!

If this doesn't get you amped for this coming draft, I'm not sure what will.

Name that pisses me off the most from that list, believe it or not? Derek Ross.

Guy had five interceptions his rookie year ... in an era when our secondary NEVER got interceptions (Save Roy Williams for a year or two).

Never to be heard from again. In fact, I'm going to have to Wikopedia him to find out why he left the team.

lol

Yeah, Ross was a real talent. I was at Parcells' first camp in 2003 and I remember Newman was already starting on the left side and Mario Edwards and Ross were rotating on the right. Ross would actually bait QBs... I remember one where he baited Quincy on a really deep throw to the endzone and then made the INT. He wasn't as quick and explosive as Newman but he was so smooth and instinctive, and he had really good hands. He was just too much of a freelancer, and I'm sure Parcells could tell he was a loser and a doper, which he was. And then he got hurt. Still remember when he returned a kickoff for a TD that unfortunately got called back.

He could've been some player if he had a brain. I still wonder if he's one reason (with Quincy) that Jerry has since shied away from the known drug users.

wikipedia said:
August 2005, Ross was arrested and charged with drug trafficking and conspiracy to traffic drugs.

Had no recollection of that.

I remember Bam Morris of the 1990's Steelers had a similar arrest.

And then this past year, Sam Hurd.

What is it with NFL guys, who make a MINIMUM of what, 425k a year.... trafficing drugs.

REALLY?

Kendell Watkins TE Miss St - 2nd round 95' draft. He trumps the Fasano selection. Fat slow slob who caught 1 pass for 8 yards in his brief 2 yr career. Talk of moving him OL position never panned out and was out of the league after the 96' season.

I only vaguely remember Watkins. What a turd.

The whole Bennet/Fasano thing still pisses me off, Jason "Fucking" Williams has me seeing red 3 years later, and thinking about Dwayne "Fucking" Goodrich (weird that he has the same nickname as J Williams) gives me hives.

Yeah, I know you can do this with every team, but Dallas has made some STUNNINGLY bad choices over, oh, the last two decades or so.

They moved him to OL basically right when they drafted him. He was drafted with that intent from day one. Thats why I didnt count him at TE

interesting.

the guy who gets nearly every fact wrong has included me in his worst of nonsense.

here is a question. going into the 06 season besides jason witten who would have been our other tight ends? Seeing that pierce had an mcl and was gone and campbell was gone?

and I dont ever recall parcells equating fasano to bavaro ever. the idiot writers here did it because he is italian and from the northeast....

you know the reason the southern guys all hate parcells.

right. Go ahead.

and the tight ends were?

I'd have to look it up to be honest.

Still doesnt matter, the guy was a lousy pick. That was the prupose of the thread, listing lousy picks.

Like I said, I would have picked Bennett but because you think the Giants front office is pure genius, obviously he must be a good player.

what does bennett have to do with how good the giants front office is? they need tight ends desperately and they signed one who at the least will help improve there running game next year for nothing.

they have arguably the best tight end coach in the league. I am sure he will play similar to what he did here up there and then get a multi year contract from someone next year.

Its no different than us filling a need with brodney poole on a cheap 1 year deal expecting a minimum performance.

and again in 06 we were all set to take gregg jennings and the packers unexpectedly took him right in front of us. You always preach the bpa and staying to the board, well fasano fit that role when you throw in the dire need we had.

With Parcells, they clearly did NOT draft the BPA all the time.

I dont believe for a second that Fasanao was the highest rated player on the board at that time by the way.

But again, it wasnt about where we had a guy rated or whatever, it was about picking guys at each position that were bad. And Fasano was bad.
