14. David DeCastro OG 6-5 316

Analysis: DeCastro gets through Kansas City and Arizona, but it also means that Mark Barron, Michael Brockers, Courtney Upshaw and Dont'a Hightower are on the board as well. The Cowboys could try to trade back if the draft falls this way for them, but they don't want to go too far back. Maybe San Diego at 18? If the phones dry up, they pick DeCastro and think about playing him at center.

I feel like Broaddus was just trying to be different with his top 5 selections, and that threw a lot of the rest of the draft on it's head.

The Vikings would be tarded to pass on Kalil.

The Browns would be tarded to take Blackmon at 4.

Just trying to change things up, IMO.

I guess its possible, he says some teams have mentioned it to him apparently and he says he did play all 3 positions (interior) at one time.

I wonder if they took DeCastro if Konz some how fell in their lap at 45 would they take him, or maybe take somebody like Blake in the 3rd or 4th. Probably wouldnt, but it would be interesting.

He was on the radio yesterday and said we are thinking more about putting DeCastro at center. Said we like are DeCastro, Cox, Barron, and Upshaw, but we're convinced Cox won't be there at 14.

Also said his mock wasn't just his ideas, but things he hears from his old scout buddies around the league about who teams like.

Funny, Ben asked him how he knows he isn't being used as a smokescreen by the Cowboys and he said it's more the scouts he still knows saying, "We're liking player x more and more", not "Look for us to take player x".

Also, and this is sorta scary, he claimed the scouts asked for his opinion a lot of times, as in "are you seeing the same things in player x that we are".

If that's true, then I think we'll either take DeCastro in a slight trade down if the phones ring.

If we're forced to pick at 14, I'd bet they take Barron.

I'm not sure if it's just breaking ties either. If he wants a player over another regardless of what the scouts say. He is taking him.
The thought of drafting Felix jones to be a complimentary back in the first round could have only been orchestrated by Jerry

I know. Hopefully they were just trying to make him feel important. :awkward

I dunno, now he sounds like Decastro would be our first choice. :confused

I finally watched some of teh youtubez of Barron, and I stlll don't get what makes him worthy of #14 overall. I'm not a Decastro fan but I might take him over Barron. Especially if we make him a center.

What's weird is Broaddus was acting like we're just now thinking seriously about trying him at C. That can't be true, can it? Our operation can't be that dumb.

DeCastro said several teams have said they might move him or at least try him at C. It was actually mentioned several months ago too by the draft guru types, that C might ultimately be his best position.

Major Broaddus b/s alert here.

Just curious, but what would you reasonably expect to see from safety prospects to make you think otherwise?

There's a reason Nick Saban raves about this guy, and there's a reason people like Mayock, Casserly, Rang etc etc are saying he's one of the top-10 players in this draft.

Yes, because nick saban is the man I go to for surefire NFL info. He had quite an illustrious NFL coaching career...
