This is something dbair said in another thread:

Pretty obvious they felt Costa could do the job. Ultimately they were wrong, but Gurode wasnt worth the money any longer and Costa had at least showed in practice that he was capable.

The team felt comfortable going into the season with Costa AND Nagy.

Because we had no one in practice who could expose these guys for the shatbags they really are.

Then the season starts... we start playing teams with really for real defensive lines, and Phil Costa starts spending more time on his back than a Cr122's wife at a 2LiveCrew concert.

Nagy ended up being a starter due to Holland's injury and conditioning situation. He was never drafted with the intent to start last year. If Holland hadnt gotten hurt early (and out of shape) Nagy would have never saw the field in a real game.

What's your excuse for Costa?

"If you stand on one foot and hold your head at a 45 degree angle, Costa doesn't look that bad."

Tyron Smith was the best OL, by far. Kosier and Holland were adequate. Free had a down year and Costa was poor.

Calling Holland "adequate" and Costa "poor" is like calling getting shot in the face "unfortunate" and Mt Everest "a hill."

I'm pretty sure Costa and Nagy were really, really good. Hostile/dbair told me so.

Pool and Sensabaugh are good to go this year. I believe!
